Aaron’s New Do

Before and after: check out the two faces of Aaron (Agim Kaba) |

On Monday, Sept. 22, Aaron (Agim Kaba) hit the jackpot: a job working for Dusty Donovan (Grayson McCouch) at the Java. Some sweet perks appeared to be in the offing, as Dusty told Aaron to get himself a new suit. On his way out, however, a stunned Aaron learned of a caveat: he had to get a haircut. He went with the program, and on Tuesday, Sept. 23, Aaron unveiled his new do. To find out more about Aaron’s new look, we went straight to the "roots" of the issue and spoke with Key Hairstylist Theresa Marra Siliceo, along with Agim Kaba himself.
When Siliceo said that when she saw the script, revealing Aaron’s impending haircut, "I was very inspired. I ran back in, sat with the executive producer (Chris Goutman) and told him that I had some great looks for him in mind." Siliceo added, "I brought him in a photograph as close to it as I could, because I like doing my own thing. And he thought it was great. And I went ahead with it. It was very exciting for all of us. I think it was most exciting probably for Agim. Because he was ready for the change." Kaba put in his two cents: "I like it. I feel better. I had long hair for a while."
Siliceo went on to describe her vision for the new look. "I chose that look for him because I see him as one of our young hot actors, I thought that he should have a very fashion-forward, current, on the edge look. I wanted people to notice him and his beautiful face, and I think this captures it." Or, as Peyton List (Lucy) succinctly put it, "It’s hot!" Siliceo offered her thoughts on the process as a whole. "I loved the old look. But I think character-wise, it’s very important to keep evolving and changing. And to do something like that on him was such a drastic change, in a good way. And it’s not going to stop there, that’s for sure!" Kaba pointed out that having long hair wasn’t necessarily a conscious decision. "I wasn’t growing it out on purpose. I did it for jobs, and eventually I was the kid with long hair." In closing, she said, "You can’t say that Agim doesn’t look great with this new look. Sort of a modern version of the ‘70s ‘shag.’ Of course, the signature of my name is somewhere hidden in that haircut if you look closely! (Laughs)"
