Martha Byrne Reunites With Former Co-Stars in the Big Apple

A blast from the past: Martha Byrne (Lily/Rose), Scott Bryce (ex-Craig) and Maggie Reed (ex-Shannon) still have that old chemistry.

On June 16, 2003, Martha Byrne (Lily/Rose) got to have her cake and eat it too. Not only did she get to take part in a play reading of Vern Thiessen's Apple for the Epic Theater Company (run by former ATWT intern Zach Berman), but she got to reunite with former co-stars Scott Bryce (ex-Craig) and Maggie Reed (ex-Shannon). "I was so interested in doing something like this, and I loved the play. I thought it was great. And then to work with Maggie and Scott, that was icing on the cake," raved Martha.

On working with Scott again, Martha noted how "It’s like, not a day has passed. We still have that chemistry together. We were never romantically involved on the show, but he was like a second father to Lily. We love each other, there’s no question. And to play lovers in a play is a dream come true!" It was equally exciting to share the stage with Maggie, who Byrne still talks to quite a bit, but "to work with Maggie on a different level. Because we worked together in 1985. It’s like not a day has passed."

And of course, for Martha, there's nothing like being on stage again, working in front of an audience. "You wouldn’t have to ask me twice -- I’d do it every day. It’s a whole different way of working. Getting an audience’s response. Your whole performance changes based on what your reactions are from an audience. They make or break the whole shebang. They’re such an integral part of the whole process."
