ATWT Fan Club Luncheon!

On Saturday, April 12, 2003, more than 400 As the World Turns fans gathered at the Marriot Marquis Hotel in New York City to mix, mingle and make merry with their favorite daytime stars. To check out our photo gallery from the event, click here!
The autograph lines stretched for hours and, though the valiant actors did their best, there was simply no chance for every heartthrob and heroine to have a chat with every fan -- even though that’s what all of them would have loved!
Luckily, SoapCity was also at the Fan Club Luncheon and we went straight to the source, asking the actors, "Is there something you would like to tell the fans that you don’t feel you get a chance to?"
Bailey Chase (Chris): That I really appreciate them.
Scott Holroyd (Paul): I would like to thank you for your support, because I’ve had some killer fans for the two years I’ve been on the show. I have a core group of fans who’ve been amazing the whole time. This is my first job and having the fan reactions that I’ve had has been amazing. It’s nice to have these kinds of fan things to be able to give back.
Terri Colombino (Katie): That we do like their feedback. It’s nice to hear from them. Even if it’s bad like, "I don’t like you with him," or "I don’t like the way Katie’s been acting," it’s still fun to get the input, because it does affect what we do.
Lamman Rucker (Marshall): That Marshall actually is a good man underneath. Somewhere.
Peyton List (Lucy): That I wear heels. I wear heels and Lucy doesn’t, that’s important. And that I love the interaction with them. It’s cool to talk and have a conversation with the fans.
They’re looking at you every day but you don’t get to see them, so it’s nice to talk to them and tell them anything they want to know.
Anne Sayre (Mitzi): That my heroes are Albert Einstein and Stephen Hawkins.
Jessica Dunphy (Alison): That I’m not like Alison! I’m much shyer than Alison. When I watch myself (as Alison), I blush! It’s fun to do just because the people that you work with are a lot of fun, but I’m really not like that. I like to cook, I’m much calmer, I don’t lie, I’m never behind people listening to their conversations. And I don’t talk to myself like Alison always does. It embarrasses me when I have to talk to myself, I feel so awkward.
Michael Park (Jack): What’s crazy is, I think I’ve been pretty much an open book with the fans. There’s nothing aloof about my relationship with them, dating back to when Danny Markel (ex-David) was on the show and we got on the Internet and it started off as a goof and ended up being a pretty good way to accumulate a fan base.
Martha Byrne (Lily/Rose): You know, I have to say that after being on the show for so long, I think I’ve answered every question. It was nice to start a new character and have something new to talk about. I’m an open book. Whatever they want to know, I tell them. And, of course, I always want to say thank you as much as I can.
Mark Collier (Mike): Yeah, we really don’t get a chance to thank the fans enough. We really don’t. No matter how many times we see them, we don’t get enough chances to thank them in person. Like today, thank you for coming all this way to see us and for watching our show for 47 years. Thank you for keeping us in business.
Peter Parros (Ben): Thank you for sticking by Ben. Through all his up and downs. And downs. And downs. And downs.
Kelley Menighan Hensley (Emily): The only thing I really have to say is thank you for being so loyal, during the good times and the bad times. We’ve been on such a good streak that it’s fun to go on the ride, but when things aren’t so good, thank you for sticking with us.
Ellen Dolan (Margo): I want them to know they’re so appreciated, especially now, because things are really iffy with soap operas and we don’t know what’s going to happen with us. The fans’ input is just so valuable. They’re contacting the network and sharing what (this show) means to them. They really have to be very active in helping us to stay on the air and keep entertaining them. Because if they don’t, they’re going to lose it and they’re going to get nothing but reality shows and talk shows and more people beating each other up. Without good dialogue.
Colleen Zenk Pinter (Barbara): I apologize for not corresponding with everyone over all these years. But, with my busy schedule and my busy life, my kids come first, and when I leave the studio it’s all about family to me.
Helen Wagner (Nancy): Probably the answer to that is, I’ve answered everything so often they don’t want to hear it anymore! I’m going on 48 years! That’s a lot of time to ask a lot of questions about a very simple, but exciting life.
Eileen Fulton (Lisa): I always tell the fans whatever I need. I don’t ever hold back. I’m not one to hold back.
