As the World Turns: Christopher Tavani Takes You
Behind the Scenes of the Fan Club Luncheon!

Christopher Tavani (Luke), with costars Brett Groneman (Will), Terri Colombino (Katie) and Cole Kachelhoffer (Parker).

Christopher Tavani began playing the role of Luke Grimaldi Snyder in 2000 and was instantly given a very hot story -- Luke and step-dad Holden's alleged deaths at the hands of his real father, Damian. (It turned out the whole thing was a set-up to fool his evil uncle, Dante.)

That year, Chris attended his first fan event and, as he remembers it, "It was pretty exciting. I tried to just be myself. If I'm being myself, I won't get any stage fright or anything. It's fun being able to entertain people. My favorite part of the luncheon is meeting all my fans."

In 2003, the gathering veteran even brought along his own camera to take some behind-the-scenes photos of the festivities, which he generously shared with SoapCity.

Chris with Martha Byrne (Lily)

"This is me and Martha," Chris explained. "Martha is nice. We get along a lot. It's kind of like she's my mother, but not really. To get ready for a scene with her, I think, ‘What if this was my real mom? What if this was really happening in my life?’"

Chris with Mark Collier (Mike) and Michael Park (Jack)

"I feel really proud about my job. I've been acting for two and a half years. My uncle is a director and decided I should start, and I kind of had to agree. The first thing I worked on was a 1-800-Flowers commercial. Then I did Triaminic, and then I did One-Touch-Tape. I'm in the fourth grade now. When I'm working, the teacher gives me some of my homework. But she doesn't give me too much because she understands that I have to practice my lines. So, when I come back, I have to make up all the work. I like doing the show, and I wanted to do the movies, too, but my mom said no because then I'll have nothing to fall back on. With the show, I get an education and I have a job."

ATWT: The Next Generation?

"Whenever Brett and Cole are on the set, I always hang out with them. But we don't work on the same days all the time. Actually, the last time I saw Brett was at the luncheon. When we sign autographs there, the fans always ask me what it's like to be an actor. I say that I feel proud of myself and I feel really good when I meet my fans. I sign my name and write ‘Have a great day.’ I get fan mail at the studio, too, but I can't answer it, because it's so much. In one day’s mail, I get two or three letters. I was trying to answer them, but I never got to it because I had school and homework and church. So, that's another reason I like the luncheon. The fans say, ‘Good luck on the show. Keep it up, you're doing really great.’ And sometimes they ask, ‘What's going to happen next?’ But I say, ‘I can't tell you!’"

Chris may not be able to tell you what's coming up next, but SoapCity can! (Kind of.) To find out what calamity will befall the Snyder family next (hint: there's major heartbreak coming up in June for Holden and Lily!) download the latest episode of ATWT, here!
