Brett Groneman joined the cast of ATWT in 1999 and, since then,
poor little Will Munson has watched his parents divorce, his father
brainwashed by an evil mastermind, and his mother get burned, go
mad and stand trial for kidnapping. No one would blame Will for
snapping under the pressure. And coming up this fall, he definitely
does. To get a sneak peek at Will's future, and also to get better
acquainted with Brett, read on
Sunny Days:
When I was four years old, my mom saw a commercial on TV and she
thought, "Well, you know, Brett acts up around the house a
lot, so
" and she asked me, "Do you want to see if
you can act?" And I didn't really know what that meant, but
they brought me into the city and we went to meet a manager. They
auditioned me. I remember they gave me a few lines to see if I could
memorize them, and they also asked me questions to see if I could
handle being around other people instead of being shy. Afterwards,
they said, "He's really good, and he's cute, too." So
I started doing commercials. And then I was on Sesame Street.
I was on three episodes of that, I think. I was a clown. And I did
an episode of Spin City. I was supposed to be Michael J.
Fox's imaginary son because he had this weird vision.
Soap Days:
I got called to audition for ATWT. But, to tell you the truth, I
didn't really like soap operas. I kind of told my mom that maybe
I didn't want to do this. But then they liked me and I got into
it. And the people here are so nice and everything, I just love
it. I've been on the show for two and a half years. I started playing
just the normal stuff, like your parents are getting remarried and
you have to act like "here-they-go-again." And I do watch
the show now. The storylines are actually very interesting. My (TV)
mom is a psycho! I like this story, but I don't necessarily wish
to come in every day because your storylines can be so incredibly
huge. I'm a part of something interesting that's coming up. I'll
have more work, but not a ton.
Working Days:
I get ready for a scene by first focusing and thinking, what am
I supposed to do? And then I think, "If I were in that situation,
what would I do? What would Will do?" Then I think of what
the difference is between us and try to switch over. I try to really
think like what if Barbara was my real parent and Luke was my real
best buddy. I get into Will's head. I've learned a lot from the
actors on this show. I've learned that you can really dive into
something that isn't real life. You can really be there and be dramatic
and get the tears out for some parts. TV reality is not so far from
real reality, even though it's fake. This stuff could actually happen
in real life!
