| Larry Bryggman joined the cast of the long-running CBS daytime drama AS THE WORLD TURNS in 1969 as Dr. John Dixon, a role for which he received Daytime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Actor in 1984 and 1987, and nominations in the same category in 1981, 1982, 1985, 1986, 1988 and 1989.
The actor's Broadway credits include Ulysses in Nighttown with Zero Mostel; The Lincoln Mask with Eva Marie Saint; The Basic Training of Pavlo Hummel and Richard III, both with Al Pacino; Checking Out; and Prelude to a Kiss. He also appeared in the initial Off-Broadway run of Prelude to a Kiss, and in the Roundabout Theatre's production of Picnic, for which he received a Tony Award nomination for Best Featured Actor. Currently, Bryggman is starring opposite Mary-Louise Parker in the acclaimed production of Proof, for which he has received a Tony and an Outer Critics Circle Award nomination in the Featured Actor category.
Off-Broadway, Bryggman has also performed with the New York Shakespeare Festival, the Manhattan Theatre Club, Lincoln Center Theatre, Manhattan Class Company, Second Stage and the Circle Repertory Company. In 1992, he received an Obie award for Overall Achievement Off- Broadway.
Bryggman toured with the late Mildred Dunnock and Albert Dekker in Death of a Salesman; with Elke Sommer in Irma la Douce; and with the late Paulette Goddard in The Man Who Came to Dinner. Currently, he is a member of the Theatre Company of Boston and has previously worked for the Long Wharf Theatre in New Haven, The Hartford Stage Company and the Pittsburgh Playhouse.
His feature film credits include Die Hard with a Vengeance, And Justice for All, Hanky Panky, and the Al Pacino-directed Looking For Richard.
Bryggman was born in Concord, CA, and raised in Oakland, CA, and currently splits his time between Manhattan and upstate New York. His birthdate is December 21. He has a son, Jeffrey, and a daughter, Heidi, and he and wife Tracey recently welcomed son Ryan Hanley (b. 12/4/99). |
