Carly effectively abandoned Parker when jilting Jack. She was trying to protect them both from suffering the revenge of Mr. Lowe.
Jen took Parker in a car ride with Bryant, but didn’t have Parker in a baby carseat. Bryant got distracted, lost control of the car, and crashed. Parker was ejected from the car and severely injured.
After Carly was kidnapped and Hal was hospitalized for deprogramming from James’ manipulations, John came to care for Parker. In April 2002, Rosanna Cabot came to town and gained temporary custody of Parker, feeling that family was better for him than passing him around between well-meaning strangers. Soon thereafter, Carly was returned to town and, in an effort to keep Carly and son together, Jack insisted they move in with him, at which time Rosanna had returned custody of Parker to Carly.
