| Miscellaneous notes/Most recent story notes: |
| Tom turned to his daughter, Lien, to join his newly created law firm. She would take on the Family Law cases. She accepted, thus creating the Hughes & Hughes law firm.
Lien was diagnosed with Que-en-Jac, which has been linked to exposure to Agent Orange. Tom felt responsible for her condition, since his unit sprayed where Lien was raised. Ben discovered a cure. Though it was not approved by the FDA even for experimentation, Tom agreed to administering the drug, and insisted on doing so himself. Miraculously, Lien was cured. Ben hoped to keep this secret from Lien, but Tom was forced to tell her. When she obviously accepted Ben's proposal merely out of gratitude, Tom counseled against it. Lien realized Tom was right. Consequently, she called off the wedding and moved back to Washington, D.C., where she was to head up a lobby on new child bills.
Tom took on Molly and Abigail as clients, each, in turn, accused of killing Nick Scudder. Thankfully, Abigail remembered crucial information in time, which led, ultimately, to the charges against her being dropped. Tom also worked on Mollys behalf in the custody issue of Bridget and Michele that was brought to court by Donna Love in the aftermath of Jakes death.
Tom vigilantly supported Margo through her ordeal with Hepatitis C and consequent living donor liver transplant. |
