Favorite Twins (and Sort of Twins)
Little Bridget and Michelle, and newfound sisters Lily and Rose are only the latest in a long line of Oakdale Twins.
Frannie/Sabrina
In 1986, Frannie Hughes (then played by Julianne Moore) saw a woman at the airport who looked just like her! A bit of sleuthing revealed that her name was Sabrina Fullerton, and she shared a birthday with Frannie. After chasing her mysterious lookalike across Europe and on-board the Orient Express, Frannie finally came face to face with Sabrina in Venice, Italy. But, when the whole truth was finally revealed, it turned out Sabrina wasn't Frannie's twin after all!
Rather, Frannie and Sabrina were half-sister, and also cousins. Identical cousins! Yes, just like Patty and Cathy on the old "Patty Duke Show." Twenty-one years earlier, Frannie's father, Bob, had an affair with his wife Jennifer's sister, Kim. Jennifer and Kim both gave birth to Bob's daughters on the same day. Bob and Jennifer took Frannie home soon after. But, Kim was told that her baby, a boy, was stillborn. In actuality, Kim's living baby, Sabrina, was switched with the Fullerton's dead infant.
The by-now married Bob and Kim warmly welcomed Sabrina into their family, and, although it took Frannie longer to come around, she and her twin cousin/half-sister eventually made peace.
Royce/Sam
In 1993, Royce Keller, had already dealt with the trauma of a split personality (one of which killed his beloved sister, Neal), and the trauma of being Lucinda Walsh's long-lost brother (he also left Emily Stewart standing at the altar, but, all things considered, that was probably a good thing) -- when the search began for his equally long-lost twin, "Sam." Much to everyone's surprise, "Sam" turned out to be "Samantha." Samantha Markham arrived in Oakdale in 1994, but soon proved to be a con-artist. No one was more surprised than Sam was, however, when it turned out she actually WAS Royce and Lucinda's sister.
The Ward Quadruplets
Not twins, but quadruplets appeared in Oakdale in 1982, when Annie Stewart gave birth to four babies - Lowell, Gregory, Maria, and Nancy. Their father, Jeff Ward, was so stressed trying to balance a medical career with caring for his brood, that he temporarily turned to amphetamines. Eventually, a detoxed Jeff and his reunited family left town.
