Soap Stars Fashion-ating Secrets

Despite our assurances to the contrary, nobody is immune to the fashion mistake. Somewhere in everyone's family photo album exists snapshots of that hideous pair of star-spangled bell-bottoms, or a haircut that seemed like a good idea at the time. We caught up with your favorite ATWT and GL stars and got them to confess what their favorite fashion faux pas was.

Martha Byrne (Lily/Rose, ATWT): I was a fashion faux pas! From 1985 to about '92. Because growing up in Jersey, acid washed was everywhere. And it was cool then. But looking back, maybe even for then, it was a little too much. But I was heavily into the acid washed pants, jackets, shirts, shoes, anything I could possibly find. It was a time. It was something!

Bradley Cole (Jeffrey, GL): Just about everything I wore. Don't forget I went to school in the '70s, so just about every day was a fashion faux pas for me.

Jennifer Ferrin (Jennifer, ATWT): Probably that would be tight-rolling your pants, where you would take the bottom of your pants and you would fold it over, and then you would roll them up. And I used to do that with a pair of pink and white striped pants. And I really loved those pants! I really did! It was awful.

Marj Dusay (Alexandra, GL): Lots of them. Many, many, many of them. And usually it comes down to wearing one too many things. When I get insecure and put on one too many things, whether it's a pin or a scarf, or too many blouses under the shirt, whatever. If I just remember to take off that one thing. An old-fashioned rule. But I have many regrets. Many.

Agim Kaba (Aaron, ATWT): No, I was a pretty boring kid.

Yvonna Wright (Mel, GL): I had high-heeled squishy boots that scrunched down, which will probably be back in. Very soon.

Grayson McCouch (Dusty, ATWT): Oh, yeah. I was anything but fashionable. My father never took me to a barber, so he'd cut the front of my hair at a 45-degree angle. And I got thoroughly beat down for it. (Laughs)

Michael O'Leary (Rick, GL): I was wearing boxer shorts, I was doing a Risky Business take off and my [CENSORED] fell out of my boxer shorts and got on the air. So, my fashion faux pas is boxers, and of course the tight pants that we wore when we first started on the show.

Peyton List (Lucy, ATWT): Every day was a fashion screw-up for me! I look back at the clothes I used to wear and it was... interesting. The big jumper dresses when all my friends were wearing jeans and t-shirts. Really cute. Mostly everything I wore back then was pretty bad. In kindergarten, I was a child of the '80s. Spandex, ripped shirts hanging off one shoulder.

Beth Ehlers (Harley, GL): I had done a series in LA [The Best Times]. And I'd been out there for three months. So I'm starting to dress like a Valley Girl, because that's how they were dressing out there at that time. My girlfriend on the show, she took me shopping, got me all these Valley Girl clothes. And when I came back to school, I walked into a New York high school dressed like a Valley Girl! It did not go over big with the other girls in the school! (Laughs)

Michael Park (Jack, ATWT): No, I didn't have any fashion faux pas. There was one kid who always made fun of me because I wore flannel shirts all the time.

Aubrey Dollar (Marina, GL): I went through a really long Umbro [sportswear] phase when I was in middle school. And I remember my mother telling me she wished I dressed more feminine, and I was very upset. Especially when you're 12 and so insecure anyway.
