Soap Stars Shop 'Till They Drop
"Black Friday," they call it. They're referring, of course, to the day after Thanksgiving, when the official holiday shopping season begins, and stores pull out all the stops. But not everybody adheres to this rigid schedule -- we caught up with your favorite soap stars to find out who gets a jump on their holiday shopping, and who waits until the last minute.
Crystal Chappell (Olivia, GL): I started in the middle of November. It's all through catalogs. It's all I have time for. I shop via the internet. My house is furnished by the internet.
Before she was driving Phillip to distraction in Springfield, Crystal Chappell (Olivia) was stirring things up in Salem as Dr. Carly Manning. Check out Crystal Chappell as Carly Manning on Days of Our Lives, in a classic holiday episode where she and Bo get back together!
Bailey Chase (Chris, ATWT): Ironically, I was just shopping in SoHo and I bought a couple of gifts, which is very out of character for me. Normally, I wait until about Dec. 20. Then, I start to think about it. And, I'm like, "There's some nice picture frames. Might as well pick these up. Can't really go wrong with those."
Amanda Serkaskavich (Darcy, GL): Usually the week before. This year I did a couple presents in October. But I'm a spontaneous kind of purchaser anyway.
Troy Kurtis (Nico, GL): Last minute.
Terri Colombino (Katie, ATWT): Well, I used to do it really early because I got so excited about Christmas so early that I just couldn't wait to do Christmas activities. But now I don't have as much time. Probably like everyone else, a couple of weeks before. At least not the day before!

Gavin Houston (Remy, GL): Week of, usually. I'm a big procrastinator, and I always work best under pressure. I do Christmas shopping at the last minute, like I do everything else.
Stephanie Gatschet (Tammy, GL): I am almost there, let me tell ya! New York City tells us that Christmas shopping starts at the end of October! It starts several months before Christmas. You can't help but get started right away. Better to get it all done before huge crowds and mobs.
Martha Byrne (Lily/Rose): My Christmas shopping is done very last minute, because I work every day, and it's almost impossible to do anything. But I get around to it. Somehow, it always manages to come together. Kids are pretty simple. They know what they want from Santa. So that makes it easier. I have a very large family. I have eleven nephews and nieces on my dad's side.

Deborah Zoe (Eden, GL): I don't know. I really like getting people things. I'm the kind of person, if I see things for someone, I get it because I care. Then I just hold onto it, or they're having a bad day or if it's going to be Christmas, I just hoard things.
Lindsey McKeon (Marah, GL): I'm usually very late with that. I usually don't even think about it at all. But I got started right around the end of October. I'm actually very, very excited about it this year, because that and Halloween are my favorite holidays.
Kim Brockington (Felicia, GL): I'm a Christmas fanatic, so I usually get an 8 foot tree and do a lot of decorating and things like that. Because I don't have kids, and I believe Christmas is for really little kids, Christmas in my house has always been huge. But we bake cookies and do things, but because there are no little tots running around, we don't really do a lot of Christmas shopping. We plan events. Like dinner and having people over and Christmas parties and plays and going to see things and do things. We usually do a big New Year's Eve thing where we do lobster and seafood and sparkling cider and champagne and we create wishes. You burn what you no longer want and write out the things that you do want. And you put them in your bible or something for the new year. But Christmas we don't do a lot of shopping. [Laughs] As I go all the way around the bush!
Peyton List (Lucy, ATWT): I used to be really good about it. I used to start three weeks ahead of time and be well-prepared, with everything organized. And last year... everything was thrown together at the last minute. Three days before Christmas. Christmas this past few years has kind of gotten away from me, so I'm determined this year... I'm going to be ready for it.
