Sydney Penny Dishes Love -- B&B style Brooke and Ridge may be far from civilization right now, but once they return to L.A., the competition hinted at between Brooke and Samantha may just escalate. Brooke was immediately suspicious of Samantha when she learned that Samantha was living with Stephanie. Then when Ridge gave Samantha a chance to design a home line for Logan Designs, Samantha was a little hesitant about accepting Ridge's offer. "She is concerned that Brooke is going to be threatened by it," explains Samantha's portrayer Sydney Penny. "Brooke's been very strange around Samantha, really jealous and Ridge says, 'No, no, no. She's a smart business woman when she hears about the idea, she'll be on board.' I'm still not so sure about that." When Samantha showed up at the press conference for the launch of Logan Design, Brooke confronted her about why she was there. "Samantha [realizes that] obviously Ridge hasn't told her and then Ridge says, 'Oh. She's designing a home line,'" says Sydney. "Brooke doesn't even really have an opportunity to object. So, that's dangling out there. I'm not sure how it's going to be resolved, but apparently that's something that's in the works."
When Ridge told Samantha that he was eloping with Brooke, it was pretty clear that Samantha was disappointed by the news. From the moment Samantha saw Ridge again she felt attracted to him. "It reminded her of her childhood and how much she looked up to Ridge and how much she admired him and hero worshipped him to a certain degree," noted Sydney. "I think for her it's like, doggone it's not good timing. He's just on the verge of getting married and there's not even the opportunity to get to know each other, have a decent lunch together, go see a movie!" OK, so Ridge may be a dead end. But there's always his oh-so-available brother, Nick. Could Samantha turn her eyes toward the roguish seaman? "It's funny, you're the second person to say that today. I think the characters are very different, they're very opposite and I think that makes for very rich material," smiled the actress. Conflict often makes for fun relationships, like Tracy and Hepburn, Bogie and Becallz3o why not Nick and Samantha? "When you know that two characters are nearly always going to disagree, one is going to want things messy and one is a picture straightener, which Samantha is. One is about the sea, the other one is about the city. We're beginning to sound like Green Acres now," she laughed. "I guess we'll see if that's actually because there's an attraction or if it's just because they really annoy each other. They're sort of the runner-up couple. They both got forgotten." |  |
