B&B's Oscar and Bridget: Opposites Attract
It looks as if Bridget (Jennifer Finnigan) is finally going to get her man. For the first time in quite a while, Bridget is pursuing a man who is not in love with another woman, or at least not with her own mother. Bridget has had her eye on the rough around the edges Jersey-born Oscar Marone (Brian Gaskill), and the feeling is clearly mutual. From the start when Oscar is discussing his options for his future with Bridget, she encourages him to follow his dreams and Oscar takes Bridget's advice to heart. "He was feeling like he's got nothing," says Oscar's portrayer, Brian Gaskill. "[Bridget] asked, 'What do you really want to do?' He basically tells her, 'Well, I've always wanted to open a club, but without the gambling,' and she says, 'Why don't you do it?' I impulsively leave the hospital and set up shop within a day. Selling the casino." Unfortunately, the opening night of Ozzz nightclub ended in disaster when the chandelier came crashing down on Macy (Bobbie Eakes). Bridget was right by Oscar's side when he blamed himself for the accident. "She's just sticking by him and making him understand that this isn't his fault," explains Jennifer. "He's really tortured about it. He feels responsible for it. She cares about him, she wants to be a rock for him to lean on."
Just as Bridget and Oscar's budding relationship is developing, however, Amber (Adrienne Frantz) barges her way into the picture. Bridget is not too pleased that her impulsive and out of control ex-sister-in-law is involved in any way with the new guy in town, and she bluntly tells Oscar that Amber is nothing but trouble. Oscar seems amused by the rivalry between the two women. "He's just comfortable with himself in a way that if somebody's jealous, or somebody is warning him about someone, he just laughs it off," notes Brian. "He's just getting a kick out of this whole thing." Despite the attraction she is feeling, Bridget is not about to throw herself head first into an intense relationship with Oscar, especially considering her track record with men. "She's so much stronger and she's probably looking for more of a traditional romance, rather than an angst-ridden relationship," says Jennifer. "She's being much more cautious about who she's going to feel for, but there is a physical attraction."
Unfortunately, Bridget and Oscar's first date doesn't go as smoothly as they expected. Amber, who is furious with Bridget for badmouthing her to Oscar, informs Deacon (Sean Kanan) that Bridget is out with Oscar. Deacon, who blames Oscar for Macy's condition, marches over to Las Olas to break up their romantic evening. "[On] their first official date, they went to a restaurant, but Deacon burst in on it," explains Jennifer. "He just doesn't want Bridget to be around him, because he thinks Ozzy is bad news. It's kind of the pot calling the kettle black. Well at first Bridget is confused, but she knows how distraught he is so she chalks it up to him just being in an altered state." So what kind of a future do Bridget and Oscar have together? "They're intrigued by each other," observes Jennifer. "She likes that he has an edge. He wants a good influence and she would definitely qualify, and I think it needs to be a more traditional type of romance for Bridget. Every relationship she's ever been in has been so dramatic. Don't get me wrong, I live for the drama, but I'm sure that it will come up eventually." Keep tuning in to B&B to see if this new golden couple will continue heating things up.
