B&B's Eric: No More Mr. Nice Guy Eric Forrester (John McCook) has been through some major life changes this year. First, Eric's world came crashing down when he found out that his first born son, Ridge, was not his biological son. Eric was predictably outraged with Stephanie for having lied to him all these years and reconciliation between the Forrester patriarch and matriarch has not yet been achieved. "I don't want him to just go back to her," insists John McCook. "When this all happened with Eric finding out Ridge's paternity, I don't want that to just be over and this needs to have changed Eric and if the writers don't do it then I have to do it. Eric is not as trusting with everybody as he used to be. He's been burnt very badly by the one person in his life that he's been connected to always, by Stephanie. It's not over." According to John, Eric still feels very betrayed by Stephanie's actions and is still not yet ready to forgive her. "She had 40 years of a relationship on paper with Massimo Marone, without ever telling Eric about it," says John. "These are lies as far as Eric is concerned, and I don't want him to get over it so fast."
Stephanie might have assumed that by getting Forrester back for her beloved Eric was the way to his heart, but John insists that as far as Eric is concerned, this wasn't enough to take Stephanie back. "The fact that Stephanie has gotten the business back for him is fine," says John "But it doesn't change that he is offended and angry and not as close to her as he used to be." In fact, fans are now starting to see a more empowered Eric emerge, as CEO of Forrester Creations, he is determined to take back control of the company's stock from Deacon Sharpe (Sean Kanan). "He has the added pebble in his shoe that a small percentage is owned by Deacon Sharpe," explains John. "[Deacon] is just about his least favorite person in the world no matter how good he's been lately, because of what he did with Bridget. [He's going] after that 2% and I think it's going to cause a lot of trouble. What I like about it is that Eric's being active about something instead of reactive or passive."
Eric is willing to manipulate Deacon in order to get to his desired goal and this is a side of Eric Forrester that audiences haven't witnessed for some time. "He's going o get very aggressive about getting that last piece of ownership out of the hand of somebody to whom it doesn't belong and he's very aggressive about it. He's a tough business guy." Watch out Deacon, Eric's on the war path!
