B&B: Schae and Darla's Pea in the Pod Sometimes life truly does resemble art. Schae Harrison who plays the role of Sally Spectra's (Darlen Conley) wacky sidekick Darla Einstein is pregnant -- on- and off screen! Schae admitted that it was a complete coincidence that both she and her character became pregnant, she says that Darla's pregnancy was written into the show one month before she found out she was pregnant in real-life. Schae and her B&B costar, Mick Cain (C.J.), announced their engagement earlier this year while they were on publicity tour in Italy and were planning on getting married when they found out they were expecting a baby. "We can't decide where to do it [get married].," says Schae. "We were definitely going to get married before Haven [the name they are giving to their baby boy] came and you know what? I want to stay up late! I want some champagne at my wedding. So we thought, 'What the heck, we'll just wait until after he's born.' I'm sure there are some fans out there who don't agree with me, I'm really sorry. But we are getting married."
Despite the fact that Schae has been thrilled with Darla's storyline this year, she admitted that the pregnancy has had its rough spots. "I hate to lie to you, but it's been tough," Schae confessed. "I'm one of those other women that you read about. It's been really tough to be honest, but that's OK." Some people are always curious to know the bizarre cravings of a pregnant woman, but Schae certainly wasn't wolfing down pickles and ice cream. "I've never eaten better in my life," says Schae. "That means protein and vegetables and no sugar, no ice cream, no cookies. It just didn't sound good to me. It just didn't appeal to me. My body has really been telling me, 'Hey this is what you need to eat and hey, you need to sleep now.'" Schae and Mick have also been playing music to their unborn baby. "We play him Zepplin, we play him The Doors. This baby boy is going to have some rock culture! Mick plays guitar to him, we sing to him." So, it wouldn't be such a big surprise if their son takes after his parents by becoming an entertainer! Schae admitted that she was a little tentative about shooting Darla's on-screen birth, "I called my doctor and [asked], 'Is this going to be safe?' Because I'm going to really go for it! But he seems to think I'll be OK." Watch out for the episodes of Darla giving birth, which will air sometime over the New Year. |  |
