B&B's Thomas: From Tween to Teen B&B has cast newcomer Drew Tyler Bell in the role of Thomas, Ridge Forrester's (Ronn Moss) son. Drew, who is new to the world of soaps, also appeared in the recent thriller Jeepers Creepers II. He moved to Los Angeles from Ohio with his whole family to pursue a career in the entertainment business. Drew is thrilled to be on B&B and is looking forward to the development of Thomas's storyline as a teenager. The word is that B&B is finalizing the casting of a young actress who will play Thomas's girlfriend. "He's been aged, and well you know he is an intelligent, sophisticated teenager with a wild side," explained Drew about his new B&B character. "So I think they are going to explore all his different aspects. I think that maybe we'll throw in a girl to cast off." Drew has only taped one episode so far and despite Thomas's initial resistance to Brooke being involved in his father's life, Drew explained, "Thomas is interested in getting Brooke back for Ridge, [Thomas is] telling him [Ridge] to keep trying."
So how is Drew adapting to life as a B&B cast member? "Everyone is great; it's a really laid-back, fun set," notes Drew. "It's not even work, I just walk in there and say some lines and they record it and then I'm out." Drew didn't have a lot of time to get used to the news that he would be on B&B before he his first tape date. "I walked in my first day of shooting and Susan [Flannery] was like, 'We've got to do line readings, we've got to do line reading!'" says Drew. "And I was like, 'Okay!' And I grabbed my script and there I was sitting in the wardrobe room watching Susan and Ronn doing the scene. Instead of [watching it on] a TV I was right there, it was cool."
Drew confessed that on his first day on the set of Jeepers Creepers II, which was also his very first role since arriving in L.A., he had an embarrassing moment. "I was definitely new because the first shot that we did was me and Becky yelling and screaming, "AHHH!" And we did one take and there are like a hundred people around, like crew and everybody, and the director is like, 'Wait a second. Drew is your mouth blue?' And I'm like, 'What are you talking about?' I had this mint like five minutes before I went to set, so they had to like hold the production, I had to go back and brush my teeth in my trailer and go back. So, you learn quickly!" Chances are that Drew won't be repeating that mistake on the B&B set. Watch out for Drew's first B&B airdate on Jan. 9.
