B&B's Sugar and Spice Up Close with Kimberlin Brown (Sheila)

SC_Monique: What's it like coming back to B&B this time?
Kimberlin Brown: You know, it's always fun. Whenever you get the call for Sheila, it's always an automatic yes. I have one of the funnest characters on the show to play, I think. She's fun, she's interested, there's always something going on whenever she's around and that's what I like about her.
SC_Monique: And the fans hate to see you go!
Kimberlin Brown: Oh, thank you. Well maybe she'll get to stay around a little longer this time.
SC_Monique: Whenever she comes back, she causes so much havoc that perhaps they need a break afterwards.
Kimberlin Brown: Everybody needs a Sheila fix and you know, yes she has to go away when she does things that are so terrible. It's either send her away, or kill her and I like the first option.
SC_Monique: This time Sheila has a little sidekick called Sugar?
Kimberlin Brown: Sugar isn't that fun. I'm hoping that Robin and I get the opportunity to just work one on one with each other as well. She's a powerful actress and I'm very, very excited about her being here to work with. And as far as Jack Wagner (Nick) goes, so far all I've seen him is on his knees. There's nothing wrong with that, with short little smart-mouthed replies and that's cool too. As far as doing more with him, I don't know if that's in the crystal ball either, but working with either one of them obviously will be a lot of fun. It's so much fun to finally get to work with Ronn (Ridge). You know Ronn Moss and I have little one-line exchanges, always usually heated, here and there and I actually got three scenes with him. Not one on one, but with dialogue.
SC_Monique: How did Sheila convince Sugar to join her crusade?
Kimberlin Brown: They really didn't get into a whole lot of the back story. The back story in my own mind is, I met Sugar in prison and made her aware of the fact of how much money could be made. Her retirement was coming up anyway, so why not go in on this together and make life a little sweeter for both of us? We worked out an entire plan together and obviously, Sheila was able to work some magic and convince her that this would be a big thing for both of us and I can't do it without your help, clearly and you definitely can't do it without mine.
SC_Monique: So, money is the temptation?
Kimberlin Brown: You know what? Look back in history over time, money has always been an evil, more so than a good, unfortunately.
SC_Monique: This whole scheme of Sheila's is partly motivated by revenge.
Kimberlin Brown: Last time Sheila was here on the show, she felt very betrayed by the Marones. She's getting ready to leave; she's getting on a yacht with Massimo and how easily it was turned around when Stephanie heard her voice on the machine and on the phone. Sheila is the one person, that she loves you to a fault. She gets involved with you, she's involved with you to a fault and she wears it all on her sleeve, as far as her emotions for you. If she likes you, she going to like you 100 percent, if she hates you she's going to hate you 100 percent. But if you mess with her and you screw with her, she's going to get you back. Ridge was just icing on the cake. She didn't start out with any kind of an intention to take the Marone boys. We were just going to deface his fleet and make life rough on him, extort money from him in that fashion. When Ridge just happened to show up in town for his honeymoon, well! Now we're going to get two Marones and up the ante.
SC_Monique: Sheila has really been left alone by everyone in her life, James (Ian Buchanan) left her and then their daughter Erica (Courtnee Draper) went to live with him.
Kimberlin Brown: James was there for Sheila when it was too late. When he came around at the end and realized, "Oh my gosh, someone does love me. Sheila is having my baby." He was responsible for pushing her over the edge. The psychiatrist is responsible for making her jump and realizing that somebody loves you that much that they would jump just to end it all because of you. I think he did have a soft spot toward the end, but Stephanie is a real strong forceful woman to deal with as well. When you have one person yelling in one ear and one person tugging on the other, who are you going to go with? Are you going to go with the one who's the matriarch on the show, who is always right, who's never wrong, or are you going to go with the person who really does love you and really does need your help, but you have someone very strong on the other side telling you no, "No, no, no. You're a fool if you do that." And rightfully so, he would be a fool to do that. But you know what? Sometimes doing the foolish thing will make you happier in the long run.
SC_Monique: What is it about Sheila that makes the fans love her? Is it her tinges of humanity or is it because she is just so bad and we all just love to hate her?
Kimberlin Brown: I think that Sheila's character has always had the humanity side and that's why people feel sorry for Sheila. I mean every single time Sheila gets into one of these messes, it's always trying to help somebody else, not herself. She just goes to extremes. I think people watching the show, that's why they care about Sheila, because she is a character that you can still care about. This time around it'll be interesting.
I think that the reason she can go away and come back again and go away and come back again, is because everything that she has done is usually out of love for other people. This time it's going to be very interesting, because it is more about her. She's pissed.
