SC_Monique: You've worked with Jack Wagner before?

Robin Mattson: Yes and we're friends. When he was doing Jeckyl and Hyde in New York, we got together a couple of times, and I'm close friends with Kin Shriner since General Hospital we've been… I don't know whether to compare it to a bad marriage or a brother and sister relationship. It's like a bad marriage where there's a lot of fighting and no sex, but brother and sister, I'm not sure which. Kin and I go way back, so Jack lives next door. So outside the show, in addition to working with one another on Santa Barbara, we've had a lot of contact socially and mutual friends. Kin had some people over for Labor Day and so it's very fun to have the friendship and be able to work together and bring some of that onstage. He's just so damn funny.

SC_Monique: How did this role of Sugar come about?

Robin Mattson: It came through the typical means, via my manager. I was pleased, because I was planning to be out here during this time period anyway, so it worked out perfect.

SC_Monique: Why were you planning on being here?

Robin Mattson: I have a home and I have family here, car here and I was planning on coming out here in September. The weather just tuned really nasty in New York. I just gloat everyday. I told my friends, "Yeah. I've had nothing but sunshine, 85 degrees. Yeah I got to work at 2PM today, went for a little swim in the pool." I'm loving the schedule. I'm actually staying with one of my closest girlfriends, Robin Greer (ex-Sydney) who worked with me on Ryan's Hope (where Mattson played Delia) and she was then on Falcon Crest, she's five minutes away and she's in New York right now. So, because it's so close, I'm staying at her place. I'm loving the weather, I'm loving the five-minute commute, I'm loving the schedule.

SC_Monique: How does Sheila get Sugar involved in the first place?

Robin Mattson: Well, it all sounds very simple, we're not going to have to get our hands dirty. She is in a position to get this money from Massimo and we're in this foundry, because we rig it so that this money can't be traced. There are gold bars and we're melting them down. It just seems awfully heavy, how are we supposed to move all that money? It's a big score. I think what happened was he heard what she wanted to hear. It was all too good to be true. It was all too simple and it just sounded great, so I believed her and went along with it. She lied to me and she's got her own agenda, a very personal agenda of her own that I was completely unaware of.

SC_Monique: Was Sugar aware of the extent of Sheila's psychopathic behavior?

Robin Mattson: She knew what she was in for, whatever that little description that she got sentenced to. She didn't know all the other stuff! Sheila can be extremely convincing to the unknowing innocent bystander.

At this point, Jack Wagner walks into the dressing room where Robin is being interviewed.

Jack Wagner: Have we gotten into her favorite actor on the show yet or not? Let's get into that. OK I gotta go, that was it. I'll answer for her.

Robin Mattson: Jack's one to kind of poke fun, especially because he's got enough information to be dangerous. Between the two of us, he knows too much. I thought I'm just so glad Jack was wearing that wig because he just wouldn't have had the nerve to poke fun with that wig on. He just looked too silly in that wig. I was so disappointed when they took it off him, because then he was armed again.
