A native of Chicago, Lara Flynn Boyle won her first professional part in the television miniseries "Amerika" while she was a sophomore at the Chicago Academy for the Arts. She went on to capture audiences' attention with two high-profile television roles, one in the movie of the week "The Preppie Murder" opposite Billy Baldwin, and then as the sensitive Donna Hayward in David Lynch's cult series "Twin Peaks." She also received a Cable Ace Nomination for Best Actress for her work on "The Hidden Room." "Afterglow" marks Boyle's second collaboration with Alan Rudolph, after starring in his 1992 film "Equinox" opposite Matthew Modine. Among her other feature film credits are Alan Parker's "The Road to Wellville;" with Anthony Hopkins and Matthew Broderick; John Dahl's critically acclaimed neo-noir western "Red Rock West" with Nicolas Cage and Dennis Hopper; and opposite Joe Mantegna in John Hughes' "Baby's Day Out." Boyle has also appeared in "Threesome" with Stephen Baldwin; "Dead Poets' Society;" "The Temp" with Timothy Hutton; the hugely successful "Wayne's World;" "Mobsters" with Christian Slater and "The Rookie" with Clint Eastwood and Charlie Sheen. Boyle's next movie role is "Dogwater," directed by David Schwimmer. Boyle can currently be seen on ABC's dramatic series "The Practice," as attorney Helen Gamble. |
