A graduate of Kenyon College, Young has made a successful transition to the New York stage. Serving as director of the Cucaracha Theater (1989-1992), he also appeared in several of their productions including "The Secret Lives of the Ancient Egyptians," "Gut Girls," Underground Soap," "Two Gentlemen of Verona," "Amerikamachine," "The Endless Adventures of M.C. Kat," "Crazy Plays Que Fumar," "Faultline," "Rodents and Radios," "Tiny Dimes," "Indiana Dog" and "Elixir Vitae." His other theater credits include "Nothing Sacred," "Slaughtergames" and "Five Very Live" with Atlantic Theater, "Billy and Dago" at The Actors Studio and "Citizen Tom Paine" at the Kennedy Center.
"Amateur" reteams Young with Hartley, who directed him in his previous feature "Simple Men." His other film credits include the independent short feature "Cover your Tracks" and the Oscar-winning short "The Appointments of Dennis Jennings."
Young recently completed an episode of Nickelodeon's "The Adventures of Pete and Pete" and will be seen in the upcoming stage production of "Baby Anger," written and directed by Peter Hedges.
