


Norbert J. Schneider

Norbert Schneider was born in Weil-on-the-Rhine in 1950. He studied music, German, linguistics and musicology, and received his Ph.D. in 1977. Since 1979, he has been a professor of musical theory in Munich at the Conservatory. He has also been a lecturer for film music dramaturgy at the Academy for Television & Film in Germany for over 10 years.
Schneider has worked extensively as a composer, performer, and writer on music. He has published numerous books on musical theory, psychology, modern music, as well as film music. His compositions include works for organ, chamber and orchestral works. He has written scores for over 200 movies and television films, including Joseph Vilsmaier's
films, AUTUMN MILK, RAMA DAMA, STALINGRAD, and CHARLIE & LOUISE. In 1990, he won the Bavarian Film Prize for best movie music for RAMA DAMA. In 1991, he was awarded the Federal German Film Band in Gold for the best movie music for LEISE SCHATTEN by Sherry Horman and WILDFEUER by Jo Baier.
