Yusuke
Sekiguchi (Masao) Nine-year-old Yusuke Sekiguchi was chosen over some
200 candidates to play the role of Masao. Although "Kikujiro" makes his
feature film debut, Sekiguchi has acted in a number of television dramas
and variety shows. He also appeared in Ennosuke Ichikawa's "Super Kabuki
Ryujin-Den," a stage show based on the classic Japanese theater style.
Kayoko Kishimoto (Kikujiro's wife) starred opposite Kitano in 1997
when she played Miyuki in "Hana-Bi." Her other films include "Tora-san's
Promise" (1981) and "Shin Sarariiman Senka (1997).
