Vahina Giocante (Marie) was born in 1981 near Orleans, but grew up in Africa in Benin and Johannesburg, where her father worked in the emerald business. Her family later moved to Amsterdam when her father opened a jewelry story there. She trained as a dancer and was a member of the company of the Opera de Marseilles when the casting director for "Marie Baie des Anges" discovered her at a beach on the Riviera. For the present, she has put her dancing career on hold to focus on acting. She recently completed shooting "Voleur de Vie," a drama directed by Yves Angelo ("Colonel Chabert") set on an island on an English Channel, which also stars Emmanuelle Beart and Sandrine Bonnaire, who plays her mother.
