"The great thing about all the designers I've met is that they can invent themselves and be anything they like - and the crazier the better," says Celia Imrie. "Fadge is full of good ideas but not very good at communicating them and also rather frightened of having her work judged by other people." Celia Imrie's gifts as a comedienne have made her enormously popular with British television audiences, in particular through her performances in several series with writer/performer Victoria Wood and in comedy dramas such as "The Riff Raff Element" and "Pat and Margaret." But she has also worked consistently on television in straight drama including Beeban Kidron's "Oranges Are Not the Only Fruit," "The Darling Buds of May," "A Dark Adapted Eye" and "The Return of the Native." Her numerous stage roles have included Jessica Tilehouse in Sam Mendes' production of "The Sea" at the Royal National Theatre for which she won the Clarence Derwent Award for Best Supporting Actress, Natalya in "A Month in the Country" for the Cambridge Theatre Company and two productions for director Di Trevis at the National Theatre, "School for Wives" and "Yerma."
