Joanne Vannicola

Jerri

(Jerri)

Joanne Vannicola makes her feature film debut as Jerri, a lesbian and a school teacher, sincerely searching for love. Her desperation and vulnerability combined with a knack for bad timing, lead her into the unwelcoming arms of a straight woman.

Vannicola has appeared in over 30 television productions, and won an Emmy Award for her performance in the title role of CBS' "Maggie's Secret." She was also nominated for a Gemini Award for the CBC TV series "9B," in which she starred. Other television credits include "Cardinal Sins," Street Legal," and PBSs "Taking Care of Terrific."

On stage, Vannicola performed in the Theatre Passe Muraille production of "Wolfboy" (also written by Brad Fraser), and toured Canada in "One More Ride."

When she was 17, Vannicola wrote and directed "Just Me," a play which was performed at the Montreal Festival.
