In 1990, Frappier produced the comedy DING ET DONG, THE MOVIE, directed by Alain Chartrand. He went on to produce PHANTOM LIFE, directed by Jacques Leduc, and the CanadaArgentina coproduction THE DARK SIDE OF THE HEART.
Born in Sorel, Quebec, Frappier began his career as an editor and director in the early seventies. He worked as an assistant to Robert Altman on NASHVILLE, and subsequently returned to Canada where he joined the prestigious National Film Board. He has won three Genies for Best Pictures for THE DECLINE OF THE AMERICAN EMPIRE, NIGHT ZOO, and JESUS OF MONTREAL. He also won three Golden Reel Awards for the Best Canadian box office hits with THE DECLINE OF THE AMERICAN EMPIRE, JESUS OF MONTREAL, and DING ET DONG, THE MOVIE. Frappier is currently president of the Quebec Institute of Cinema.
