  • CULVER CITY, Calif., Dec 15, 2009 - Sony Pictures Entertainment is concluding negotiations to option the English language motion picture rights to the Millennium Series, a trio of crime-thriller novels by the late Swedish writer Stieg Larsson, it was announced today by Doug Belgrad and Matt Tolmach, Presidents of Columbia Pictures. Scott Rudin was instrumental in securing the rights and is attached to produce along with Ole Sondberg and Soren Staermose of Swedish production company Yellow Bird Films. Yellow Bird's Mikael Wallen and Anni Fernandez will executive produce.

  • CULVER CITY, Calif., Dec 9, 2009 - Jake Kasdan will direct Cameron Diaz in Bad Teacher, a comedy written by Lee Eisenberg & Gene Stupnitsky, it was announced today by Doug Belgrad and Matt Tolmach, presidents of Columbia Pictures. The film, which centers on a flagrantly foul-mouthed, bitter, and irreverent middle school teacher, will be produced by Mosaic Media's Jimmy Miller.

  • CULVER CITY, Calif., December 4, 2009 - Bennett Miller is in negotiations to direct Columbia Pictures' Moneyball, starring Brad Pitt as Billy Beane, the general manager of the Oakland A's who rewrote the unwritten rulebook of baseball. The screenplay is by Steve Zaillian and Aaron Sorkin based upon the bestselling book by Michael Lewis. Stan Chervin wrote the first draft of the script. The film will be produced by Michael De Luca, Scott Rudin and Rachael Horovitz.

  • CULVER CITY, Calif., November 17, 2009 - Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions Group has signed a three-year marketing and distribution deal with CBS Films, under which Sony Pictures will handle international theatrical distribution of CBS Films productions as well as service worldwide distribution of the unit's films in the home entertainment marketplace, it was announced today by Peter Schlessel, president, Worldwide Affairs for Sony Pictures, and Jeff Blake, chairman, Sony Pictures Worldwide Marketing & Distribution. CBS Films will handle domestic theatrical distribution of all titles and retains rights in a limited number of foreign territories.

Under the deal, King's GK Films will independently develop, finance and produce a minimum of two films a year that will be marketed and distributed worldwide by Sony Pictures.

  • HONG KONG - 24 September 2009 - Sony Pictures Television (SPT) has named Todd Miller executive vice president, networks, Asia-Pacific. Based at SPT's Asia headquarters in Hong Kong, Miller has oversight of the Company's television networks business in all of Asia-Pacific, plus its investments in channels in Australia. Additionally, Miller will join the board of directors of SPT's India joint venture, Multi Screen Media Private Limited (Multi Screen). Miller reports to Andy Kaplan, SPT's president, networks, who made the announcement today.

  • LONDON - 22 September 2009 - Sony Pictures Television (SPT) announced today that Stuart Baxter has been promoted to senior executive vice president, European distribution. Based at SPT's European headquarters in London, he will oversee the distribution of all of Sony Pictures Entertainment's (SPE) feature film and television programs to all media outlets throughout Europe, the Middle East and Africa, including terrestrial broadcast, satellite and cable, telcos, mobile operators and various on-demand platforms. Baxter becomes SPT's highest-ranking commercial executive in the region and reports directly to Keith Le Goy, SPT's president, international distribution, who made the announcement today.

This collection features 22 digitally remastered shorts that continue the Stooges legacy with the return of the original Stooge, Shemp. Included in this volume are such classics as the Stooges' 3D shorts: Spooks and Pardon my Backfire, presented for the first time in both 3D and 2D, as well as Shot in the Frontier, a parody of the classic film High Noon. This compilation also marks the first time many of the shorts will be available in widescreen versions since their original theatrical presentations.   • Mumbai, India (March 25, 2009) - Leading sports broadcaster – Multi Screen Media & the World Sport Group have signed on as the Official Broadcast Partner for the DLF Indian Premier League. The deal gives Multi Screen Media the exclusive audio visual rights to all the 59 matches of Season II due to start on April 18th in South Africa. The Media Broadcast Rights deal is now worth Rs. 8200 crore and is valid for the next nine years through to 2017 for the DLF Indian Premier League.
