Senior Executive Vice President & Chief Financial Officer, Sony Pictures Entertainment
David C. Hendler is Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE). Mr. Hendler is responsible for all of the Company’s financial, information technology, and strategic planning activities. His duties also encompass SPE's treasury, procurement and security, health and safety. He reports directly to SPE Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Michael Lynton.
Mr. Hendler brings significant worldwide entertainment industry and management experience to SPE. Prior to joining SPE, he had been the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for Warner, Elektra, Atlantic, Inc. since 1997. In this position he was responsible for all financial functions for the $2.4 billion music sales, marketing and distribution division, CD manufacturing and print divisions, DVD video distribution and DVD video manufacturing divisions and Warner Strategic Marketing.
Prior to his position with Time Warner, Inc. Mr. Hendler spent eight years at The Walt Disney Company, most recently as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for Disney Interactive Worldwide. At Disney Interactive, he was responsible for all financial and administrative functions for the four divisions, including Entertainment, Edutainment, Disney Family Online and Worldwide Web, and Multi Media Educational Publishing. Before joining Disney Interactive in 1995, Mr. Hendler held various positions of increasing responsibility at The Walt Disney Company including, Senior Vice President of Finance and Administration for Disney Home Video and Pay Television and Vice President Controller for Disney Pictures and Television.
Prior to Disney, Mr. Hendler spent seven years at a division of PepsiCo, Inc. initially at Taco Bell and eventually becoming the Chief Financial Officer of the Western Region at Pepsi-Cola his last year there.
Mr. Hendler started his career as an Internal Auditor at Fairlanes, Inc in 1975.
Mr. Hendler is a CPA and holds a degree in Accounting from The University of Baltimore and an MBA from Pepperdine University.
In addition, Mr. Hendler was an adjunct professor teaching Managerial Finance at Pepperdine University Graduate School.
