President, Production, Columbia Pictures

Hannah Minghella has served as president of Production for Columbia Pictures since October 2010. She partners with Michael De Luca and works closely with SPE Motion Picture President Doug Belgrad to oversee all aspects of development and production at the legendary motion picture label.

In her current role, she has overseen such films as Captain Phillips, Zero Dark Thirty, American Hustle, the Jump Street franchise, The Amazing Spider-Man 1 and 2, Men in Black 3, Skyfall, the most successful James Bond film of all time, and the animated hit Hotel Transylvania. Her recent projects included The Equalizer, starring Denzel Washington and Annie, starring Jamie Foxx and Quvenzhané Wallis. She is currently working on The 5th Wave, starring Chloë Grace Moretz; Goosebumps, starring Jack Black; a new film from writer-director Cameron Crowe; Pixels, directed by Chris Columbus and starring Adam Sandler; and Sinister Six, the ultimate mash-up of villains from the Spider-Man universe.

Minghella joined the studio in 2005 as a director of creative affairs working in the office of Sony Pictures Entertainment Co-Chairman Amy Pascal. In that role, she collaborated closely with Belgrad on several projects, including the production of the highly successful James Bond film Casino Royale. In 2008, Minghella was named president of production of Sony Pictures Animation (SPA), and held that role for two years. During her tenure at SPA, Minghella oversaw the production of the live-action/animated hit The Smurfs and SPA’s CG-animated release Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. She also oversaw the development of Aardman’s Arthur Christmas and The Pirates! Band of Misfits and Sony Pictures Animation’s Hotel Transylvania.

Prior to joining Sony, Minghella worked alongside director Steven Shainberg to help start Vox 3 Films, an independent production company in New York where she oversaw development. Before starting Vox 3 Films, Minghella spent four years at Miramax Films in New York, where she served as a creative executive for Meryl Poster.

Born in England, Minghella is one of the original co-founders of Stellar Network, a non-profit membership-based organization in the UK that provides resources and support to film, theater, and television professionals.
