MUSIC: Keiichi Suzuki
Born in Tokyo on August 28, 1951, Keiichi formed a band called 'Honey Pie' after meeting Morio Agata and the band released 'Sentimental Street' in 1973. In 1975, he got together with his brother Hirofumi, Tetsuro Kashibuchi, and Toru Okada and formed a band called Moon Riders. From their first album 'Hinotama Boy (Fireball Boy)' to their latest album 'Dire Morons TRIBUNE', they have been producing cutting-edge music. He also does music for TV commercials, and he has acted in several films too. His most important work in game music is the one he did for 'MOTHER'. He has written music for the film 'Spiral'(Dir. Higuchinsky, 2000) and also Takeshi Kitano's new film 'Zatoichi'. 'Tokyo Godfather' is the first feature animation film he has written music for.
SCREENPLAY: Keiko Nobumoto
Born in Hokkaido in 1964, Keiko worked for Asahikawa University
Hospital for two years after graduating from Asahikawa Nursing
College. She then got a part time job at Tokyo Movie Shinsha
Company and worked on Katsuyoshi Otomo's 'AKIRA' as a
production assistant. She went on to work part time for Global
Television before winning the grand prize for the Fuji Television
Young Scenario Awards and starting a career as a screenplay
writer. Her most important work for TV is 'Hakusen Nagashi'(1996)
whereas her work in film include 'World Apartment Horror'(Dir.
Katsuhiro Otomo, 1991) and 'Nurse Call'(Dir. Shunichi
Nagasaki, 1993). She also wrote for a TV animation series 'Cowboy
Bebop' in 1998. Her latest work 'Wolf's Rain'(2003)
is based on a story written by her, with the screenplay also
written by her.
CHARACTER DESIGN: Kenichi Konishi
Born in 1968, Kenichi first started working
for Studio Ghibli as an intern in 1989. After leaving the company
in 1999, he went on to work on a freelance basis. His work can
be seen in films such as 'Pom Poko'(Dir. Isao Takahata,
1994), 'If You Listen Closely'(Dir. Yoshifumi Kondo,
1995), 'Princess Mononoke'(Dir. Hayao Miyazaki, 1997),
'Spirited Away' (Dir. Hayao Miyazaki, 2002), 'My Neighbours
the Yamadas'(Dir. Isao Takahata, 2000), and 'Millennium
Actress'(Dir. Satoshi Kon, 2002)
DIRECTOR OF PHOTOGRAPHY: Katsutoshi Sugai
Born 1971, Katsutoshi started working for Sunrise in 1995. After
leaving the company in 1998, he became a freelancer and in 2000
started his own company Studio Ipse. He has worked in films
such as 'Gazaraki'(TV/1998), 'Mugen No Revias'(1999),
and 'Cowboy Bebop The Movie: Knockin' on Heaven's Door'(2001)
where he used a digital camera.
SOUND DIRECTOR: Masafumi Mima
Born in 1962, Masafumi started working for Magic Capsul in 1989.
After leaving the company in 1999 and working as a freelancer
for the following three years, he started working for Techno
Sound. He has worked as a sound director in films such as 'Pocket
Monster: Mewtwo Strickes Back!'(Dir. Kunihiko Yuyama, 1998),
'Metropolis'(Dir. Rintaro, 2001), 'Sakura-Taisen Katsudo
Shashin'(Dir. Mitsuru Hongo, 2001), and 'Millennium Actress'
(Dir. Satoshi Kon, 2002)
ART DIRECTOR: Nobutaka Ike
Born in 1965, Ike started working for Studio Cosmos in 1986. He has been a freelancer since 1995. He has worked in films including 'Midori No Mamorigami'(Dir. Satoshi Dezaki, 1990), '1000 Pine Groves'(Dir. Satoshi Dezaki, 1991), 'Aoi Kioku Manmo Kaitaku To Shonen Tachi'(Dir. Satoshi Dezaki, 1993), 'Perfect Blue' (Dir. Satoshi Kon, 1997), and 'Millennium Actress' (Dir. Satoshi Kon, 2001).
CO-DIRECTOR: Shogo Furuya
Born in 1970, Furuya has worked in such TV animation series as 'YAWARA!' (1992) and 'Master Keaton' (1999). The films he has worked in include 'Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade' (Dir. Hiroyuki Okiura, 1998), 'Millennium Actress' (Dir. Satoshi Kon, 2001) and 'Spirited Away' (Dir. Hayao Miyazaki, 2001).
ANIMATION STUDIO 'Mad House'
Reputed to keep producing high quality works, Mad House have
produced all of Kon's three films. They are known as one of
the best production groups in the Japanese animation industry.
They have in the past worked with the animation director Rintaro on such films as 'Harmagedon: Genma taisen' (1983), 'X' (1996) and 'Metropolis' (2001), and with Yoshiaki Kawajiri on his films such as 'Supernatural Beast City' (1987), 'Jubei Ninpocho: The Wind Ninja Chronicles' (1993), and 'Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust' (2001). They have worked on Kitaro Takasaka's 'Nasu - The Summer of Andalucia', which was screened at Cannes during its Directors' week (Director Fortnight) and is going to be released in Japan this summer.
With their stylish direction and rich visual images, Mad House
are highly respected both domestically and internationally.
Two directors, Yoshiaki Kawajiri and Ken Koike, participated
in 'Animatrix' (2003) and their dynamic visual images
have earned them a worldwide reputation.
