ATWT & GL to the Rescue!
 |
Gavin Houston (Remy), Matthew Bomer (Ben), Aubrey Dollar (Marina), Jordi Vilasuso (Tony) and Beth Chamberlin (Beth) turn out to support three great causes in one! |
|
It was a weekend of serious fund-raising, March 28-30, as Pro
Events, Inc. threw a gala supporting The Christopher Reeve Paralysis
Foundation, The National Breast Cancer Foundation, and The
Reggie Johnson Foundation to support at-risk youth. But it was also
a weekend of serious fun and partying. Why? Because there were ATWT and
GL soap stars in the house!

Mark Collier (Mike) and Agim Kaba (Aaron) show off their bad selves. |
|
And holding the festivities in Las Vegas didn't hurt, either.
 |
Mark and ex-on-screen love interest Lesli Kay (Molly) catch up with Lamman Rucker (Marshall). |

Saturday, March 29 was the soap stars' big day to shine as they hit the
Las Vegas Hilton first thing in the morning for a Breakfast with the Stars,
followed by a Meet & Greet Photo Op, a Q&A session, a live auction
and an autograph session.

Emmy nominees Ricky Paull Goldin (Gus) and Jordi Vilasuso (Tony) with Gavin. |

"For the Q&A, they brought all of us actors on stage and they
had us each say what we would do if we won a million dollars," laughed
Gavin Houston (Remy). "Ricky Paull (Goldin; Gus) said he would buy
his mom a house. I'm more boring. I said: invest it. And then, during
the auction, Jeanne Cooper (Kay; Y&R) just took off her watch and
auctioned it off. It went for a lot of money, too. People kept thanking
us for coming and participating but, you know, I don't consider something
like this as asking a lot of us. It's just about being personable, being
normal. When it comes to interacting with fans, it's all about making
them feel like one of us."
Gavin's co-star, the Emmy nominated Jordi Vilasuso (Tony), was fresh
off shooting a prime time pilot, and managed to squeeze the charity appearance
into a busy month of catching up with his GL taping. Though genuinely
excited about his own nomination, Jordi was most psyched for the show's
14 nods.
"When I found out about my nomination," Jordi revealed, "I
had been sleeping (on-location for the pilot) and was woken up by the
ring of the phone in my hotel room. My manager sarcastically whispered,
"Did I wake you, honey?" From that moment I knew! That has got
to be the best way to be wake up in the morning! I am very happy, but
I am also so proud of my show and my castmates! Go GL!"
In addition to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, proceeds
from the soap event also went to the Marco
Island Film Festival.
