Behind the Scenes of Reva and Josh's Wedding
An Intern's Perspective
Throughout the day, between helping the publicist and observing the taping,
I got a chance to say "hi" to a couple of the actors, some whom
I had known from before -- Jordi Vilasuso and Lindsey McKeon, who were
both nominated for Emmys this year. I also met the newly cast Daniel Cosgrove.
It was his first day on the set playing Bill Lewis, Billy and Vanessa's
son. When I think about it, I realize that it must be pretty rough to
start your first day of work taping such a big event like a wedding because
you're new and have not had the opportunity to get used to everyone or
the way the schedule works.
When I arrived the next morning, I ran into Robert Newman in the production
office. He told me that they had not finished taping until 1AM that morning!!
As crazy as that sounds, what is even crazier is that they all had to
be back in the studios 7AM Thursday morning for another long day. Thursday
was very similar to Wednesday, except somehow, there were more people
in the studio than on the previous day. Rebecca Hollen (Trish) who used
to be on the show, brought her two daughters on set for a little while
to watch some of the rehearsal.
After lunch, there was a band on the set, which I thought was cool. Toward
the middle of the day (which was 5PM in this case), there was a scene
where the actors had to do a square dance. I have to say, this was the
most lighthearted scene of the day and everyone seemed to be having a
great time. The other actors who were not a part of the dancing stood
on the side clapping with the music. It was great to see all these characters
that have so much drama in their lives just come together and have a good
time.
All the actors who were involved in the wedding episodes have incredible
stamina. Just watching was tiring enough, but having to actually be on
your feet for hours at a time for two days straight is hard work! Not
to mention the fact that the Emmys were on the Friday of that same week
(where Crystal Chappell won for Best Supporting Actress!). Who
ever said being an actor was easy?
