Guiding Light's Daniel Cosgrove (Bill)
When GL viewers last saw Bill Lewis, he was headed out of town with Pilar
Santos. My, what a difference a year makes. Pilar has dumped Bill, leaving
him to spend some time wandering around Texas -- and meet an enchanting
redhead named Lorelei Hills. Well, now Bill is back in Springfield, and
so is Lorelei -- only she's calling herself Beth Raines. Will Bill fall
for Beth? Actor Daniel Cosgrove has no idea. After all, he didn't even
know the character he was playing, until the last moment!
New York State of Mind:
This part just happened. It's good to be working. I never take a job for
granted. It's not that I didn't like L.A., but I'm from the East Coast,
and when this opportunity came up, I tried to take advantage of it.
Past Lives:
All My Children was my first daytime job. I played Scott Chandler.
It was great. It was fantastic. It was my first job ever, and it was all
so new that I didn't have much to compare it to. We did a show a day.
And it's fast, it moves, it clicks. It's a well-oiled machine. You just
kind of jump in and try to stay afloat.
Night Falls:
After AMC, I did Beverly Hills, 90210. It was new experience. It
not only was a move to a different venue for me, it being a prime time
show, but it was also a move to the West Coast. The cast over there was
very welcoming. I joined on the ninth season and was there for the ninth
and tenth seasons. And that, again, was just a great time. I found it
was like joining a little family, because everyone was pretty tight and
close and quite friendly -- from cast to crew to people in the production
office. They're a very warm group of people.
Guy Talk:
When I auditioned for GL, I didn't know who I was coming to play. I didn't
know my character's name until after I got the job. I read for a guy named
"Guy." I didn't get much of background, really. I just knew
that he was a bit of a wondering soul, he's been traveling a lot, he's
kind of coming back to town with a bit of an edge and a bit of life experience
under his belt, so to speak. I also crossed paths with someone, unknowingly,
and then when I come back to town, I see her face and it rings a few bells.
The first thing I learned about Bill Lewis was when I came in for my first
day and they said I would be wearing cowboy boots. I was like "Oh,
I had no idea." So I'm still trying to figure out who the heck Bill
is.
