Guiding Light's Aubrey Dollar (Marina)
A round-up of answers to the usual questions from one of Guiding Light's
newest cast members.
Acting Corny:
The first acting job I did, I was eleven years old. It was Children
of the Corn: Part II. The whole cast was all kids, so it was really,
really fun because we could all just romp around in these cornfields.
We did three weeks of night shoots in the middle of these cornfields somewhere
in Virginia, so it was really bizarre. But it was fun. I loved it.
Up the Creek:
I did Dawson's Creek for six episodes in the second season. I was
a very snobby, mean cheerleader named Marcy. I was very mean to Jen, but
we kind of ended up being friends. It was cool to work on a show I actually
watched. It was fun. We were down in North Carolina. It was this cute
town down by the water, so it was really pretty. It was kind of nice to
film outdoors for a while. And I'm actually from North Carolina. North
Carolina has a decent film industry. I was lucky to be around that when
I was growing up.
Snow Job:
The last thing I did was called Trapped. It was filmed in Vermont.
It's an avalanche action-adventure film. It's a TV movie, but the airdate
has actually been pushed back now because of what's been going on, since
we're trapped in a collapsing building.
Bad to the Bone
I keep getting cast as the bad girl. I don't know why. I don't think that
I'm usually a bad person. But I do like quirky things. Those are usually
more interesting to play than nice people.
And Aubrey was Her Name:
This (GL) character was called Mary when I read for it. I had strep throat
the first time I went in. Then I went back in a couple of times, and I
got to sing, because they told me she was Brittany Spears-ish. To me,
that meant walking that fine line between being an innocent little girl
and somewhat of a sex symbol. So, I kind of went all out Brittany Spears,
and then I heard, "Uh
a little less Brittany Spears."
Getting in Gear:
Before I start taping, I'm definitely planning on watching the show to
get a little bit of background. I've already gone on this website, I'm
such a big computer dork. I've never done daytime before. I was actually
talking to my friend, Matt Bomer (Ben), who's already on the show and
he was talking about how daytime is so good, because you basically have
to be able to do everything just in one take. I'm kind of excited about
that. I think it's good practice. You have to condition yourself to be
able to do so much in a day. Most feature film stuff you're just doing
a tiny little bit, and you're just saying the same lines all day, especially
with special effects and stuff. I think this will be a really good experience.
I'm excited.
