George Alvarez made his debut on the CBS daytime drama GUIDING LIGHT in August 1999 in the role of Father Ray Santos. Ray has his hands full when his younger brother Tony arrives in Springfield and begins stirring up trouble.
Cuban-born Alvarez received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Parsons School of Design. After graduating, Alvarez worked as a bartender at Studio 54 where he developed an interest in acting. He was "discovered" at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in New York during a casting call..
Prior to GUIDING LIGHT, Alvarez worked on the daytime dramas General Hospital and The Bold and the Beautiful. He has guest-starred on such prime-time series as N.Y.P.D. Blue and Beverly Hills 90210. Alvarez also was featured in the films The Pizza Connection, Suicide and The Art of Dying. On stage, he was seen in A Burning Beach, La Puta Vida and Cracow.
In his spare time, Alvarez enjoys yoga, biking, skiing and video games. He currently has a film in development and is working on his directorial debut for a small independent film he wrote. Alvarez has two sons, Kyle and Forrest, and currently resides in New Jersey. |
