Peter Simon (Ed Bauer)

Peter Simon rejoined the cast of GUIDING LIGHT in May 2002 in the role of Ed Bauer, whom he had previously portrayed with great popularity from October 1981 to September 1984, and from December 1986 to June 1996. Ed is currently reestablishing his relationship with his children, Rick and Michelle, strengthening the Bauer family bond.

Also familiar to daytime audiences as Ian McFarland on As the World Turns and Scott Phillips on Search for Tomorrow, Simon attended Exeter Academy and graduated from Williams College in Williamstown, MA. After graduation, Simon joined a professional repertory theater company at Purdue University in Indiana. His theater credits there included Romeo and Juliet, The Homecoming and Night Must Fall.

Simon spent a season at the Barn Theatre in Michigan before returning to New York City, where he has appeared off-Broadway in Kicking the Castle Down and James Kirkwood's P.S., Your Cat is Dead. For the New York Shakespeare Festival, he has appeared in The Happiness Cage, Cathedral of Chartres and a Central Park production of Twelfth Night. His television credits include the 1983 made-for-television movie The Cradle Will Fall, in which he portrayed his GUIDING LIGHT character.

Simon is married to actress/writer Courtney Simon, a script editor for As the World Turns. The couple, who share five children between them, reside in New York City. Simon, who is also a playwright, was born on September 27.
