Hernando was found face-down in a river in Chicago. Ray and Tony
were raised by their uncle, Frederico. Ray joined the priesthood to

Ray tries to support his cousin, Danny Santos, as he struggles
to protect his wife, Michelle, from the complications of his mobster
life. He tries to convince the couple not to give up on their
marriage. Ray performs their second wedding at Laurel Falls.

After cousin Pilar Santos confesses to her role in
Ben Warren's murder, Ray tries to convince her to come forward. He
resists the temptation to break his vows and tries to get her mother,
Carmen, to confess to the murder. He is relieved when Michelle is
finally cleared of all charges. Ray is dismayed when Danny and Michelle
continue to have problems as Danny is pulled back into the "family."
Ray is shot when his younger brother, Tony, fleeing from trouble in
Chicago, arrives in Springfield. |

Ray remarries Michelle and Danny. Ray tries to counsel
a guilt-ridden Tony to give up the Santos family way when he learns
about a hit on Danny. |

Ray is thrust into the middle of Catalina and Tony's
relationship when she confesses to him that she lost their baby. Ray
has to choose whether he should break his vow and tell Tony about
Cat. He decides to keep his faith, but refuses to marry his brother
and Cat. Cat lies to Tony and says that Ray made a pass at her. Tony
tells Ray that he believes him. Ray acts as the middleman between
Marah and Tony when they decide to figure out who really killed Catalina. |
