| 1977 |
Alan arranges to have Jackie Marler's son substituted for his and
wife Elizabeth's stillborn baby. Jackie's husband, Justin, had cheated
on her, and she secretly gave up her baby letting Justin believe she
had an abortion. |
| 1978 |
Elizabeth and Alan divorce, with Alan retaining custody of Phillip.
Alan marries Jackie, who wants to be close to Phillip. |
| 1979 |
Alan loses control of Phillip and Elizabeth when he is falsely
implicated in the murder of Ramon de Villar. Roger Thorpe has information
connecting Alan with the murder, but suppresses it in exchange for
keeping his job amidst a rape trial.
After a plane crash, Alan is trapped on a desert island with Hope
Bauer. Hope and Alan fall in love, while Jackie miscarries.
Jackie and Alan divorce. Hope and Alan marry. Roger Thorpe blackmails
Alan into hiding him from the police.
Brandon dies, leaving all his shares of Spaulding to Amanda Wexler,
who is revealed to be Alan's daughter.
Jackie and Justin reunite.

Jackie reveals to Justin that Phillip is their son. |
| 1982 |
Accused of murder of longtime lover Diane Ballard, Alan is acquitted
but charged for obstruction in the search for Roger Thorpe. He spends
several months in jail, while Amanda runs the company. |
| 1983 |
Phillip finds out about his parentage, rejecting both Justin and
Alan. |
| 1984 |
Alan suppresses the cure for "Dreaming Death" hoping to
profit from marketing the antidote. Alexandra blackmails him and he
leaves for San Rios with the FBI on his trail. He is shot and presumed
dead in San Rios. |
| 1986 |
Alan returns to Springfield and retrieves blackmail tape from Alexandra,
regaining the presidency of Spaulding. |
| 1988 |
Though dating Vanessa Chamberlain, Alan sets his sights on Reva
Shayne, recently jilted by Josh Lewis. Alan changes the true test
results which would have proven Josh was the father. He marries
a semi-comatose Reva. The marriage is annulled, but she later agrees
to be his wife in an official ceremony.
Phillip forces Alan to turn over the presidency of Spaulding to
him. Alan leaves for Mexico. Wrongly believing Phillip was in on
Phillip's coup, he has an affair with Blake Thorpe.

| 1989 |
Reva follows Alan to Mexico and convinces him to return to Springfield
with her. Reva discovers the true paternity of her daughter and
Alan's role in the cover-up. Reva and Josh reconcile. Alan takes
a bullet for Reva when Josh's ex, Sonni Carrera, attempts to kill
her.
Alan is sent to prison for the attempted murder of Blake Thorpe
during her wedding to Phillip.

| 1989 - 1994 |
In prison, Alan befriends and pays Neil Everest to set up Phillip
for the Towers bombing. |
| 1994 |
Alan is released from prison and falls in love with Tangie Hill.
Tangie learns of his involvement sabotaging Spaulding files in attempt
to take the presidency from his son, Alan-Michael, and demands that
Alan turn himself in. Alan is acquitted, but loses Tangie in the process.

| 1995 |
Escaping his feelings for regret over Tangie, Alan races out of
town. He has a car accident and awakens to find himself cared for
by an amnesiac Reva. With Alan's help. Reva regains her memory and
they return to Springfield together, where Reva is drawn back to her
children and Josh. She breaks away from Alan during a custody battle
for her children. |
| 1996 |
Alan plans to develop Fifth Street and demolish Buzz Cooper's
diner when he learns of Reva's marriage to Buzz. Alan saves Reva's
son, Shayne Lewis, from the wrecking crew, but is left seriously
injured. He battles to regain the use of his legs.
Alan confesses to Phillip that he was responsible for framing Phillip
for the Towers bombing.
Alan sends Amanda to jail for tax evasion on Christmas Day.

| 1997 |
Alan hires Annie Dutton as his physical therapist and helps Annie
pose as Reva's sister. Alan falls in love with Annie and helps her
in her revenge plot against Reva. Planning on taking over Lewis
Oil, Alan and Annie blackmail Cassie Layne into retrieving information
on the company while causing a wedge in Reva and Josh's relationship.
Alan and Annie get engaged. At their wedding, Eddie Banks shows
up revealing that he is actually still married to Annie and that
Annie faked her death to avoid vehicular manslaughter charges while
under the influence years ago.
Alan is shocked to learn that Brandon, not Alan, is actually Amanda's
father. He can't forgive Alex, who leaves town. In the aftermath,
Alan loses his place on the board to Amanda. Amanda, longing for
family, welcomes Alan to the board.

| 1998 |
Alan is unable to forgive Annie and refuses to help her as Annie
faces extradition to Ohio. Alan hesitantly welcomes Vicky Brandon
into the Spaulding family. Alan enjoys Teri DeMarco's flirtations.
|
| 1999 |
Alan sleeps with Teri, who reveals her true identity: Annie. Alan
takes up with her again and protects Annie from the likes of Reva
and Josh. When Annie has to go to court for her crimes, Alan promises
to help her, but comes up short, which makes Annie angry at him. He
finally gets annoyed, realizing Annie has disrupted his family. He
ends their relationship. Alan has a heart attack and awakens to learn
that his new grandson is named after him. |
| 2000 |
Alan is shocked to learn that Beth Lemay's new baby is Phillip's,
which gives him cause to argue for a Beth-Phillip reunion.
Alan takes on a relationship with Claire Ramsey.

Claire grows increasingly annoyed with Alan's attentions towards
Olivia Spencer Lewis, Josh's wife. |
| 2002 |
Alan kicks Claire out of the mansion. He and Olivia strike up a
business deal, as well as a personal relationship. Alan proposes to
Olivia. |
