Her fiery personality and no-nonsense attitude have helped her to corner the market on romance and to create some of the most exciting relationships in daytime.
Reva's first and perhaps truest love was childhood sweetheart, Joshua Lewis. The two were introduced as children when Reva's mother, Sarah Shayne, took a job as the Lewises' housekeeper. As young adults, they shared their first kiss and began a tumultuous relationship that would include pain, passion and undying love. The two soul mates were together throughout high school until Josh left Springfield to attend college. Reva was crushed by his decision. Feeling lonely and abandoned, she retaliated by marrying Josh's older brother, Billy.
Eventually, Josh and Reva reconciled but several obstacles would prevent them from getting back together. When Josh learned that she came to town because Alan Spaulding paid her to break up Billy and Vanessa Chamberlain by telling Billy they were never legally divorced, Josh dumped Reva. Reva turned to Josh's father, H.B., who gave her unconditional love and acceptance; the two married. Josh and Reva found their way back to one another but plans for a future together were derailed, first by H.B.'s heart condition, then by her pregnancy. A depressed Josh left for Venezuela where he eventually married a beautiful woman named Sonni. Meanwhile, Reva suffered a miscarriage and her relationship with H.B. slowly began to fall apart.
It wasn't long, however, before Kyle Sampson, who had saved Reva's life, stole her heart! Kyle had power, but more importantly, he had a wild and passionate side that was the perfect match for Reva. Their aborted wedding led directly to a reconciliation with Josh. But when she gave birth to daughter Marah, questions about the baby's paternity arose. Josh and Reva managed to find their way back to each other again but when Sonni came to Springfield, Josh returned to her out of a sense of obligation. In the meantime, Alan became enamored of Reva and even married her when she was in a coma! The marriage was annulled when she regained consciousness but they later get engaged. However, when the truth about Marah's paternity -- that Josh was the father -- was revealed, Reva broke her engagement and she and Josh reconciled.
Finally, in 1989, Josh and Reva reunited at Cross Creek to exchange vows. A year after getting married, Reva gave birth to her third child and named him Shayne. (She had already admitted that Dylan, her first son, was the product of her and Billy.) Unfortunately, their dream marriage hit hard times when Reva suffered from a serious bout of postpartum depression. During an episode of extreme despair, Reva drove her car off a bridge into the water of the Florida Keys. She was presumed dead and her mourning husband would spend the next five years of his life searching for his wife. In reality, Reva suffered from amnesia and lived in the community of Goshen, where she encountered Alan, who helped her to regain her memory. Against Alan's wishes, she eventually returned to Springfield for a bittersweet homecoming.
Reva was shocked to find Josh in a relationship with another woman, nurse Annie Dutton. At first, she planned on leaving town without telling him and the kids that she was alive because she didn't want to spoil their happiness. But it was only a matter of time before Josh discovered she was alive. After spending five long years searching, Josh was upset with Reva for not contacting him earlier. In reaction, Reva caused sparks to fly when she attended the 1995 New Year's Eve ball with Alan. Josh, however, did not budge. Realizing that Marah and Shayne had already accepted Annie as their mother, Reva made the painful decision and gave up custody of her children.
Feeling unstable and unloved, Reva quickly fell into a relationship with Buzz Cooper and the two married. He was a good man who was eager to provide her with unconditional love and a solid commitment. Although her life was good with the "King of Fifth Street," Reva's wild heart couldn't be tamed for long. Despite Reva's many loves, Josh remained her soul mate and the two eventually reunited despite the best efforts of a psychotic Annie.
Josh and Reva remarried in 1999 but marital bliss was short-lived. Reva, plagued by odd dreams, began to investigate the missing pieces of her memory. She soon recalled that she had a whole other life as Princess Catherine, wife to the ruler of San Cristobel, Prince Richard, with whom she had a child. Josh tried to be as patient as he could during this time but this discovery took its toll and the couple separated, much to the disappointment of their children, Marah and Shayne. Although the ink on the divorce papers has dried, Reva and Josh continue to be a constant presence in each others' lives despite their new relationships with Dr. Noah Chase and Olivia Spencer (the new Mrs. Lewis), respectively.
