Torrey
DeVitto stars as Karen Kerr in the Sony Pictures Television original
drama series BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE for ABC Family.
DeVitto was born in Huntington, New York to Mary and Liberty DeVitto.
From the time she was born she was surrounded by the entertainment
industry. For 28 years, her father played the drums for Billy
Joel, so she spent plenty of time on the road traveling with her
parents. She began violin lessons at age six and by the time she
was in the 4th grade, she had earned her place as the 4th chair
violinist in a high school orchestra in New York. At age 12, she
played a solo violin piece at the wedding of Christie Brinkley
and Peter Cook.
At age 15, she began modeling in commercials and print advertisements
and spent a summer in Chicago working for the Ford Modeling Agency.
During the summer after high school graduation, DeVitto stayed
in Japan working for the Avenue One Modeling Agency. The following
spring, she worked for the Ford Modeling Agency again, this time
in Miami.
DeVitto soon realized her heart wasn't in modeling and decided
acting was more her forte. Prior to landing the role of Karen
in BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE, she played the lead roles in the MTV
pilot, Alexandra the Great, and in the Fox Searchlight
short, Starcrossed. DeVitto also guest starred on One
Big Happy, Noah Knows Best, Safe Harbor, The
Untitled Michael Jacobs Pilot Scrubs, Dawson's Creek,
Jack & Bobby, Drake & Josh and The King of Queens.
Staying true to her love of music, in 2002 she played violin with
the Tommy Davidson Band at the Sunset Room in Hollywood. Her solo
performance earned her another standing ovation. She also played
violin on Raphael Saadiq's CD, "Ray Ray," in 2004.
