Daphne
Zuniga stars as Lynn Kerr in the Sony Pictures Television original
drama series BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE for ABC Family.
From the first moment Zuniga stepped onto the stage at age twelve,
she knew she'd found her calling. Due to the lack of boys in her
junior high choir, she assumed the role of 'The Admiral' in "HMS
Pinafore." Zuniga began her film career with Rob Reiner's The
Sure Thing opposite John Cusack and Tim Robbins. Then, a childhood
dream came true when she was cast opposite Lucille Ball in Ball's
final performance, Stone Pillow.
Zuniga went on to star in feature films such as Mel Brooks' Spaceballs,
Vision Quest, Gross Anatomy with Christine Lahti
and Matthew Modine, and Staying Together with Stockard
Channing, directed by Lee Grant. Other films include Last Rights
and Stand Ins. She became familiar to millions of viewers
when she appeared for four years as Jo Beth Reynolds on the hit
series Melrose Place.
Other credits include the highly rated NBC miniseries' Pandora's
Clock and Degree of Guilt, both based on best-selling
novels, and television guest spots on Spin City, Stark
Raving Mad, Eve and Law and Order, then on stage
in Moliere's Tartuffe in Los Angeles.
Born and raised in Northern California and Vermont, with delightful
stints in Canada and Guatemala, Zuniga is the eldest daughter
of a Unitarian minister mother and a philosophy professor father
(hence her running away to La La land). Zuniga studied for a year
at the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco and performed
in theater in New England before enrolling in the theater program
at UCLA. She also studied with renowned acting teacher, Peggy
Feury, at the Loft Studio, with Larry Moss and Penny Allen.
Zuniga returned to television in 2004 in the acclaimed NBC series
American Dreams where she plays the ultra sexy centerfold
Shelly Pierce. She will be seen next in BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE
in summer 2005.
When not working, she is devoted to the conservation of our planet
and mercury awareness, working with such organizations as the
NRDC (Natural Resources Defense Council) and Water Keeper Alliance.
Zuniga divides her time between Los Angeles and New York.
