  1. What is UltraViolet?
    UltraViolet is a free, online personal collection that gives you greater flexibility with how and where you watch the movies and TV shows that you purchase. Once a movie or TV show has been added to your UltraViolet Collection, you will have options to stream it over the internet, download it for offline viewing, or play it back on a disc. Because UltraViolet offers so many viewing choices, you have greater freedom to choose where you want to watch - whether it's on a mobile device, computer, television, game console, etc. Full details here...
  2. How does UltraViolet work?
    Every time you buy an UltraViolet-enabled movie or TV show, you can add a digital "proof of purchase" to your UltraViolet Digital Collection. By doing this, UltraViolet Retailers, Streaming Services, and UltraViolet-capable devices and apps can confirm your rights to the movie or TV show and enable you to watch.

  4. What are UltraViolet Rights?
    UltraViolet Rights are the guaranteed minimum benefits that you, as a consumer, get with every UltraViolet movie or TV show at-no-charge above the original purchase price. UltraViolet Retailers and UltraViolet Streaming Services may, over time, charge additional fees for additional benefits (such as additional downloads or more streaming). Full details here...   5. How do I create a new UltraViolet account?
    It's easy! You can always open your free UltraViolet Account at http://www.uvvu.com! Or, when you purchase an UltraViolet-enabled movie or TV show online (or in-app), you can set-up your new account as part of your purchase process.
  6. How do I add new purchases to my UltraViolet Digital Collection?
    For online purchases, you can easily add new titles directly to your collection as part of your purchase process. Before you complete your check-out, you'll be given the opportunity to log into your UltraViolet account (or create one if needed), and your movie or TV show will be automatically added to your Digital Collection. For purchases of an UltraViolet-enabled movie or TV show on disc, your title will come with in-package instructions on how/where you can log in (or create an account) to add it to your collection.
  7. Do I have to purchase all of my UltraViolet movies from the same retailer?
    No! Titles you purchase from any participating UltraViolet Retailer can be added to your Digital Collection. However, certain retailers or streaming services may offer supplemental benefits (in addition to your UltraViolet Rights) which may have special appeal to you.
  8. What kind of personal information is collected when I create my UltraViolet account?
    We ask for just the basics: Name, an email address, birth date, username and password.
  9. Does it cost anything to set up and manage my UltraViolet account?
    NO! Your UltraViolet account and Digital Collection is included FREE with your UltraViolet movie & TV show purchases!
  10. Can I merge two separate UltraViolet accounts?
    UltraViolet doesn't currently support merging (or separating) of accounts.
  11. How many people can share my UltraViolet account?
    You may share your UltraViolet account with up to 5 other people (Account Members), and each Member can have their own username/password log-in information.
  12. What are the benefits of having multiple account members instead of just sharing one username and password?
    There are several benefits. First, each Member gets to customize what titles they see (such as including / excluding by genre, keyword, etc) in the UltraViolet Collection (subject to the Collection Owner's permission). Second, if you opt-in for this, UltraViolet Retailers can offer personalized recommendations based on each Member's viewing tastes. Finally, UltraViolet offers parental controls to limit child Members from accessing certain titles (or even seeing them listed in the Digital Collection).
  13. Are there Parental Controls?
    Yes! Absolutely! You can set controls to limit what titles in your UltraViolet Collection are accessible to children who share your UltraViolet Collection. You will also need to utilize parental controls through the streaming services and devices you elect to use.

  15. How much do UltraViolet Movies and TV shows cost?
    Just like purchasing movies and TV shows today, prices are set by the individual movie/TV studios and retailers. UltraViolet does not set pricing.
  16. Is there a limit to the number of movies and TV shows I can have in my UltraViolet Digital Collection?
    No!
  17. Can I add previously purchased movies and TV shows to my UltraViolet account?
    Not at this time; however, UltraViolet was designed to support this feature, so if movie/TV studios and/or retailers choose to make such "upgrade" offers available, you'll be able to easily add existing titles to your UltraViolet Account.
  18. How can I access/watch my UltraViolet movies and TV shows?
    All kinds of ways. You can stream to most any Internet-connected device , including cable/satellite set-top boxes. You can download copies for when you don't have good internet access. And, in many cases, you can enjoy watching via a physical copy such as a DVD or Blu-Ray. Full details here...
  19. Do I need to purchase special equipment to use UltraViolet?
    No! You don't need any special equipment or additional technology to enjoy your UltraViolet Collection. However, devices will be marketed that are optimized to work with UltraViolet right out of the box, and you may be interested in making such a feature one of your "checklist" items when buying new devices.
  20. How many different UltraViolet movies and TV shows can my shared Account Members watch at the same time?

    Yes! With UltraViolet, because you can stream and download additional copies, it's like having an online, cloud-based back-up that is built in to each movie or TV show in your collection.
