Crys Forsyth-Smith
Visual Effects Producer
Sony Pictures Imageworks

Crys Forsyth-Smith joined Sony Pictures Imageworks as visual effects producer in February, 2000. With senior visual effects supervisors Ken Ralston and Rob Legato, Forsyth-Smith was instrumental in the production of the visual effects for two of Robert Zemeckis's films: “What Lies Beneath" and “Cast Away." Critics called the fiery plane crash created by her artists in “Cast Away" the most frightening ever filmed.

After finishing work on “Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle" with visual effects supervisor Mark Stetson and director, McG, Forsyth-Smith began work on Martin Scorsese's “The Aviator," the Academy Award ® nominated biopic about the legendary aviation pioneer Howard Hughes. With "The Aviator" flying high at the box office, Forsyth-Smith has begun work on her latest project, "Monster House" where she will once again be working with Robert Zemeckis.
In addition to her current work, Forsyth-Smith is also credited as visual effects producer for the international phenomenon “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone," where she helped bring to life the book's iconic characters such as: The Troll; Fluffy, the three-headed dog; and the Centaur; as well as the book's hallmark Quidditch matches.

Forsyth-Smith began her career at Dream Quest Images as visual effects production coordinator on “Dracula: Dead and Loving It" and “Crimson Tide." She also worked as a visual effects production manager on “Mission to Mars," “Inspector Gadget" and the Academy Award® nominated “Armageddon." At Digital Domain, Ms. Forsyth-Smith served as visual effects production manager on “The Fifth Element" and “The Island of Dr. Moreau."
