Senior visual effects producer Dave Taritero joined Sony Pictures Imageworks in 1999. Taritero is currently working as the visual effects producer on "Click," the new Adam Sandler film. He most recently completed work on Revolution Studios' "The Forgotten," and is currently in production on "Bewitched," starring Nicole Kidman.
Previously, Taritero produced the visual effects for "Little Black Book" and "Bad Boys II," directed by Michael Bay and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer. Taritero and the "Bad Boys II" effects team were nominated for a Visual Effects Society (VES) award for Outstanding Supporting Visual Effects in a Motion Picture. In a competitive year of outstanding visual effects films, being recognized from a highly specialized group of peers for the seamless quality and variety of CG effects was a distinguished honor. The effects ranged from placing a Miami mansion into a Cuban setting complete with 3D buildings, cars, and people, to seamlessly inter-cutting CG police cars, a BMW, a truck and a Ferrari into a live action chase sequence. sequence.
Prior to working on "Bad Boys II," Taritero served as visual effects producer on "I Spy," producing nearly 700 visual effects shots including the virtual environment atop the chain bridge in Budapest. Additionally, Taritero produced the visual effects for "The Tuxedo," "Hollywood Homicide," and the blockbuster film "Charlie's Angels" directed by McG. For this film, he produced over 425 visual effects shots including the exploding helicopter scenes, the 3-D bullet scenes and the opening airplane-parachute sequence. Upon joining Imageworks, Taritero was visual effects producer on "What Planet Are You From?" for director Mike Nichols.
Prior to his arrival at Imageworks, he spent two years at Pacific Title/Mirage Studios where he worked as visual effects producer on numerous features including "Blast From the Past," "Soldier," "Wing Commander," "Love Stinks," and "Lethal Weapon 4." After completing the visual effects on a number of episodes for the HBO miniseries/movie "From the Earth to the Moon," his team received an Emmy nomination for their efforts.
Taritero began his career in visual effects at Warner Brothers Digital Studio in 1994. Starting as a visual effects coordinator, he quickly rose to visual effects producer, working on numerous commercials and features such as "Conspiracy Theory," "My Fellow Americans," "Rosewood," "Eraser" and "Batman Forever."
Taritero received his undergraduate degree from the University of California at Santa Cruz.
