Animation Supervisor Sony Pictures Imageworks
Animation supervisor Stephane Couture joined Sony Pictures Imageworks in 2003 as a senior animator on "The Polar Express." Working closely with Director Robert Zemeckis, Couture was responsible for the realization of the mesmerizing "Ticket Sequence." He recently completed work on "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe." Currently his is working on the upcoming performance capture film "Monster House" due in theaters July 2006.
Couture began his career as a Graphic designer in 1989, in Quebec, Canada. Following graduation in 1992 from the National Animation and Design Center (NAD) in Montreal, Canada, he was hired as Animator at Cine-Groupe, where he worked on television openings. He went on to work as lead animator at DHD Postimage, specializing in special effects for television commercials.
In 1994, RGA in Los Angeles recruited Stephane as Lead Animator for projects such as "Mary Reilly" and "Mortal Kombat". Stephane subsequently worked as Animator on 20th Century Fox's "Independence Day," and for Pacific Ocean Post on various independent projects. In 1997, he joined Digital Domain, where he worked as character animator for "Titanic" and the "Coca-Cola Panda" television commercials, among others. He also served as an animation supervisor on the award winning animated short film, "Tightrope." Following Digital Domain, Couture was hired as an animation supervisor and character animator at Vivid Animation. His work there included the creation of a state-of-the-art facial animation system for the already famous digital "Marlene Dietrich", as well as a few extremely creative and innovative commercials and tests for feature animated films.
Just prior to coming to Imageworks, Couture worked as senior animator with CentropolisFX on "K-Pax" and "The Scorpion King."
Couture is a graduate of the National Animation and Design Center condensed program in Canada.
