Central to the visual theme in "Snow Falling on Cedars" was the image of leaves gracefully falling on blankets of pristine snow.
The predictably wintry British Columbia seemed like a perfect location. Unpredictably, British Columbia's usually snowy climes weren't snowy.
Kind of a speed bump for a movie with "snow" in the title.
Fortunately, it was exactly the type of challenge that Imageworks loves- invisible effects that elude the critical eye and help tell the story.
The team at Imageworks not only produced the much needed snow, but also discreetly adapted entire landscapes to meet the needs of the story.
