Jr. Digital Production Accountant

Job Description:
The Jr. Digital Production Accountant will work with intermediate and senior production accountants to assist in servicing producers, production managers and finance management. The Jr. Digital Production Accountant provides financial support and analysis for Animation and Visual Effects productions. This position is responsible for all financial and accounting functionalities on both types of films including production budgeting, forecasting/cash flows, profit analysis, headcount analysis, general accounting and ad-hoc analysis.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage all financial aspects of production accounting: including budgeting, cashflow, cost tracking, headcount tracking, variance analysis, forecasting estimated final cost (EFC), profit analysis, production quota and productivity reporting, and ad hoc analysis.
- Budgeting and cost tracking Animation and VFX films (Pre-Production, Production and Post Production phases)
- Prepare weekly Estimated Final Cost (EFC) forecasting, cash flow forecasting, headcount summary, variance analysis, reporting and miscellaneous journals and account re-classes
- Prepare weekly quota and artist productivity reports for production
- Review weekly reports for accuracy and making reclassifications as required
- Analyze causes of variances
- Extract budgets into EFC reporting
- Database maintenance including rate updates, crewing date changes and coding
- Review and code invoices, petty cash, procurement card expenses, etc.
- Prepare audit backup to support all show expenditures as needed
- Perform complex financial analysis on an as needed basis
- Additional production related accounting functions as requested by finance management.
- Ability to manipulate large amount of data into concise and informative reports for Sr. Management

Required Experience:
- Accounting degree or similar
- Production and/or Production Accounting experience is a plus (Animation/VFX preferred)
- Advanced Excel Skills required
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills
- Excellent analytical, organizational and forecasting skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize work and remain detail oriented
- Deep understanding of production cycles and ability to work in ambiguous situations
- An understanding of Canadian tax incentive programs is a plus

Submission Tips & Guidelines

Reel Submissions
- Reels should be on DVD or VHS (NTSC) - Beta or PAL will not be accepted
- Do not send CD ROMS or refer us to a website - hardcopy submissions only
- Reels should be clearly labeled with your name and contact information
- The length of your reel should be limited to 5 minutes and consist of the work you're most proud of beginning with your most recent work
- Music should not contain vocals unless lip-syncing skills are illustrated
- Please include a credit list explaining what you did on your reel and what software (if applicable) was used to achieve the effects
- Demo reels should be well edited and concise (less than 5 minutes).
- ANIMATORS NOTE: Please include all traditional work (life drawings, pencil tests, etc.) either on your reel or with your portfolio

Portfolio Submissions
Please be sure your portfolio is clearly labeled with your name, address and telephone number on both the inside and outside.

All portfolios should contain the following:
- Samples of your recent work
- Life Drawings
- Rough Sketches of animals and humans in movement
- Samples of your color and design sense
- We prefer artists to limit their portfolios to 20 pieces representing their strongest current work.
- Do not send original copies of your work as it will not be returned
