What the Sony Pictures Entertainment China Writers Initiative participants can expect:

  • The Writers Initiative takes place over two weeks at Sony Pictures Studios in Culver City and expenses related to the business trip will be provided. This includes airfare, lodging, daily per diem and U.S. business visitor visa fees for the writer.
  • If needed, a translator will be provided during the two-week initiative.
  • The writer will be offered a first-look deal for one year pursuant to meetings and consultations with creative and executive staff of Sony Pictures Entertainment.
  • Opportunities to meet with Sony Pictures Entertainment Film, TV and Animation executives for the writer to develop relationships, and learn the life-cycle of a movie, including development, production, marketing, post-production, release and home entertainment distribution.
  • A thorough overview of the Hollywood studio process.

What we expect from the Sony Pictures Entertainment China Writers Initiative selected participants:

  • To have had at least two of their previous screenplays produced and distributed.
  • To have ideas on how the studio can collaborate with Chinese filmmakers and writers.
  • To provide insight into the growing Chinese market.
  • And adhere to all Sony Pictures Entertainment policies while participating in the initiative.
