It was over pizza, plain and simple. Nothing fancy, nothing glamorous, just the two of us and our greasy meal. This was never the fairy-tale first date I dreamt about as a teenager, but it turned out to be the greatest meal I ever ate.

Shaun and I met at a track meet. I was coaching; he was watching. Little did I know he was watching me instead of the athletes he coached the previous year. A couple of times throughout the meet our eyes met, but I never wanted to get caught in a stare. By the end of the meet my high school girls dragged me over to meet their former coach. They said we would be perfect for each other. Would you trust high schoolers to set you up? So we went for dinner. I had no time to get ready, fix my hair, or put on makeup. I was in my track sweats and knew I didn't have to try to impress him. He constantly made me laugh and feel as if I was the luckiest girl on the earth.

That track season I began falling in love with this guy. My athletes were right; we're both teachers, both runners, both Christians, and both perfect for each other. I knew Shaun was the one during our first date, and it all started over that pizza.
