RENT, amazingly, has gotten me through some of my toughest times, when I listen to the soundtrack I feel better, I feel safe. Thank you to all who are involved in putting this amazing message out to the public through the screen. You are all truly, truly a blessing.

Posted by: Bethy on 06/06/05 at 07:13 PM

RENT and Access Hollywood have really gone hand in hand lately, haven't they? For that reason, and that reason alone, I have been forced to watch it occasionally. Exactly what the show's producers were hoping, I'm sure, when they made whatever deal they seemed to have penned. Now I've got to remember to go set my TiVo.

Aww, the second picture makes my heart hurt for Mark more than just a bit. And it goes without saying that the picture of Angel is more than fabulous.

Posted by: Caitlin on 06/06/05 at 07:17 PM

Those pictures are lovely. Hopefully we we get them in very large HQ versions too? *pleads*

Right, well, I'm not sure who all of the cast cares to read the comments left, but I had to have my say. RENT has been one of the most influencial parts of my life. I had never really cared much about musicals, and one day I heard 'Light My Candle.' It started something within me that still lives. RENT has always been, will always be, my favorite show. It's the one thing that, even if things have completely gone to shit, reminds me that something beautiful can exist. It made me go into musical theater, and it's all I want to do. So, I suppose, this is all to say thank you for bringing something incredible to life with every note and word; For helping me to realize what my purpose and goal in life are. Not that I consider this all, I'm sure it may sound obsessive, but it's extremely rare for something to touch you and to stir something within you in a way this show has for me. I can hardly wait for the movie to open. With the talent involved, it will make its mark on the world. I'm sure it will reach more people the way it has reached me.

Posted by: Amanda on 06/06/05 at 11:01 PM

Thanks for telling us ahead of time! I'll definatly tape it, can't wait! Rent is going to be awesome! Break legs to everyone on the rest of the shooting of the show! Hope you're having fun!

words cannot express how excited I am for this movie. I saw the trailor and it looks AMAZING! I will first in line to see it, and I will see it every single weekend until its out of the movies. Then buy the dvd, vhs, tape it off the tv, I'm so excited. :-)

This is truly amazing. I had no idea that this movie was coming out because I live in Australia. I was fortunate enough to see the premiere of RENT in Aussie land, but Im not sure it ever quite caught on. I also feel privelaged to be entry 35 - only because I know that in a few weeks entries will be in the thousands, once the next generation of angst filled teens catch on to what it is all about!

Anyway good luck guys, this must have been so amazing for you. I know that you all got there through hard work, but it was a nice higher power that helped things along :)

Congratulations!

Watching the trailer on the big screen has captured me once again and reeled me into the RENT life...It's a dark, dizzy, merry-go-round...it's a ride I never get tired of. It reminds me how amazing life really is. Thank you for setting the date and completing the cycle. Loved the trailer, got the chills and the pics are awesome.

Hey there.

After two years of listening to the "highlights" I finally saw the show on Broadway this May. I must compliment the original cast memebers (on the original recording) for their ability to transfer the passion they feel in the music to the listener (at least for this listener). =)

I had the opportunity to see Ms. Menzel in WICKED last year, and of course I thought she was brilliant. Her performance motivated me all the more to go see RENT.

Anyhoo... I can't wait for the movie to come out. November seems so far away. =) Best of luck to everyone.

Posted by: DeeDee on 06/07/05 at 01:50 PM

Wow the trailer was awsome. I was scared that the movie would loose some of the character that the play has, but i can see that it is still all there. I cant wait for the film to come out. It will be a late but awaited birthday present. I will be first inline at the citywalk theatre.

Posted by: Thia on 06/07/05 at 01:57 PM

aw the trailer was so beauiful....i did tear cause of the song...that song is the reason i fell in love with rent and broadway.....every scene you can match with song that is being sung without even hearing it.....i really cant wait...damn i feel like those star wars freaks...but i dont think im going to dress up like one of the cast members.....but i know others will...

Posted by: nina on 06/07/05 at 02:04 PM

wow, the trailer is amazing. i cannot wait to see the movie. you all are true inspirations.

Posted by: Ari on 06/07/05 at 02:23 PM

This is all so amazing. I was one of those who cried while watching the trailer. I’m 21 & I’ve been a fan for about 8 years. You all have made me ecstatic over here. My 59 year old mother is as excited to see the movie as I am. My 19 year old brother’s not really into musicals, but even he is psyched about the movie. Rent is my favorite musical and has always been there for me. Thank-you all so much for taking the time to do this right.

Posted by: Faith-Anne on 06/07/05 at 02:27 PM

What can I say is WOW!! if this is the trailer which is the teaser to get us to the theater I can't imagine HOW amazing the rest of the film is going to be.

Posted by: Van on 06/07/05 at 02:43 PM

Wow! I got chills watching the trailer and think I even may have teared up a little! Thank you all so much for your hard work and dedication, it means so much to so many.

That's so powerful.
I've been a fan of the musical for a while now and. . .I'm eagerly awaiting the release of the movie.
From just the trailer I can tell that I won't be disappointed.

Posted by: Bec on 06/07/05 at 05:04 PM

How come the Movie isn't using the original Joanne (Fredi Walker) and Mimi (Daphne Rubin-Vega)?

Posted by: Lexi on 06/07/05 at 05:09 PM

gorgeous, absolutely gorgeous. the first time i saw the trailer, i watched the whole thing grinning from ear to ear, half crying, half laughing, with my hand over my mouth. since then, every time i watch it, the sun just bursts out from behind the clouds, no matter how down i feel. there's a lot of stress in my life right now and rent is what keeps me smiling.

i have so much faith in this and in all of you...thank you all SO much for your dedication. xoxoxo

I absolutely cannot wait for this to come out. Ever since I was like 8 years old or something I remember my sisters singing Rent at the top of their lungs. I am a huuge fan, and also a hugge fan of Idina Menzel. I can't wait for this movie to come out!!!!!!

CAN'T WAIT too see the movie, I totally forgot it was being made until I was checking for news at the Rent Website!!!! wow, now i'm all excited again, should be great! it's awesome that they casted most of the original cast from the play, that'll make it even that much better! YAY for RENT!!

Posted by: Tara on 06/07/05 at 05:25 PM

:| Oh wow. That trailer is brilliant! All doubts I have left in me are vanished. It looks awesome! The cast looks awesome (loving Adam's hair, by the way), and sounds amazing!

Posted by: Lausanne M. on 06/07/05 at 05:27 PM

I fell in love with the musical the first time I saw it, and now, I am even more excited that those who are not able to see this amazing theatrical presentation on Broadway - will be able to see and "feel" the inspiration it gives and learn why it means so much, to so many people... I just watched the Access Hollywood trailer, and it is so true to the musical! A HUGE thanks to the amazing cast, crew and of course, director, for making this possible. Looking forward to November... keep up the hard work - your efforts will continue to touch many lives.

Posted by: Cole on 06/07/05 at 05:32 PM

Oh what a wonderful sight...the trailer brought tears to my eyes. I cannot wait!

Posted by: Christine on 06/07/05 at 06:03 PM

They look great!!! I can't wait for the movie release... only a few more months left!

Posted by: Ani on 06/07/05 at 06:25 PM

I've lost count how many times I've seen the musical in both NYC and London. I can't wait for Nov. 11. I only hope they don't throw me out of theater for singing along. Much love from Fla.

Posted by: Carla on 06/07/05 at 06:53 PM

Just saw the Rent Trailer on Acc Hollywood. Thank God for TiVo, I've been playing it back, over and over. So glad to see that so many of the original cast are in the movie. It's gonna be a blast!! Can't wait for Nov 11!

Posted by: Bobby D on 06/07/05 at 08:23 PM

Amazing Trailer...I have seen the musical 14 times and was wondering if the movie would look cheesy. It looks absolutely beautiful--just as I would have imagined it outside the confines of a stage. Too bad we have to wait 5 months. I guess very good things come to those who wait. What a coup to get most of the original cast. I predict that this will be a huge winner at the box office, which makes me feel great knowing that even more will find this work accessible. Bravo to Sony for having the kahoonas to finally bring this to the big screen!

Posted by: Mike on 06/07/05 at 08:26 PM

I cannot wait for Rent to come out. At first, I had my doubts over whether the same chemistry would flow with Rosario Dawson and Freddi Walker replacing two original Mimi and Joanne but they look like they can handle the job. It looks like Rent is going to be a big hit.

LOVE YOU, IDINA!! Thanks for signing my daughter's playbill and for taking a pic with us.

Posted by: Jay on 06/07/05 at 10:46 PM

Anthony, Idina, Adam, Jesse,Wilson, Tracie, & Others,

I am looking at my Rent poster right now. It's been hanging up on my home walls for years. Earlier today, I thought about hanging it up in my office at work (I teach community college), but I didn't think my students wouldn't connect to the poster without seeing the show. What timing! Thanks to you all, my students will now have a chance to connect to the show's characters. Which reminds me - if any of you want to come to Rancho Cucamonga, California to talk to community college writing students about character development, please let me know! ::grin::

Otherwise, do any of you feel like blogging about character development here? I am hoping to make connections between acting, writing, and character development for the students. If you focus on character development only, I still can help students make the writing connection.

Regardless of whether or not anyone responds to the character development question, thank you for taking the time in your careers to bring Rent to younger viewers as well as us "old timers" / I'm 33, for instance ;) !

And thank you so much for taking the time to share your experiences of filmaking with us. I am really learning from your blogging! I have listened to La Vie Boheme countless times, but I cannot imagine dancing, singing, and carrying on to it for that many days in a row that many times in a row. Wow! I so look forward to experiencing those monents vicariously when I watch the movie on opening day (and many times throughout my life, I imagine. I have seen Rent on stage three times.)

So, how did I end up here this evening? I clicked on to AOL about an hour ago, and I learned that Rent is coming out as a movie.
Did you hear me yelling with excitement over there from over here? I called my soon to be ex-husband kinda late this evening, and we shared this joy together. Only Rent being turned into a movie would allow me to share this level of joy with my soon to be ex-husband.

So all my thank yous: Thank you so much again for sharing your thoughts. Thank you for making the movie. Thanks for bringing your talents to these incredible characters!
Thanks again!

I cried while watching the trailer. Can't wait to see the completed film!!!

Posted by: Ashleigh on 06/08/05 at 12:54 AM

Just saw the trailer - thank god my mom watches television more than I do, because she was able to tell me that a trailer was out (while mocking me that she saw it first). I, along with probably every loyal RENT fan, was nervous about hearing there was a movie version being produced. I just wanted to say that any last fears I had were quelched by this AMAZING trailer! And how wonderful is it that we get to see almost the whole original cast in its entirety? Absolutely wonderful, and well done to all :)

Posted by: Lindsay on 06/08/05 at 01:07 AM

What happened to Daphne Ruben Vega???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Posted by: bob on 06/08/05 at 03:14 AM

OMG!
I love it! I cried. This really makes the movie so real for me. It looks amazing. I can't see how this movie will be a flop in anyway, shape, or form. YAY! Go Cast and Crew! It looks sooooo good! I can't even begin to imagine how much work all of you put into the movie! I am forever grateful. I can't wait, I can't wait, I can't wait!!! This is so exciting!

I cannot wait it will be put on view to
Japanese RENT heads!

This musical came into my life at a point where I desperately needed to be lifted up. Thank you all for your inspiration. I can't wait to see the movie!

Posted by: Kristine on 06/08/05 at 07:34 AM

Must confess that I got all misty-eyed and I'm glad to know that others got this kind of reaction too.

Watching the trailer alone was just a surreal experience because I guess most of us Rentheads have been playing scenes from the theater over and over again in our heads and it really was brought back to life in that trailer.

If the trailer alone looks this good, I have no doubt at all that the movie will be very very powerful indeed. Good luck everyone!

Posted by: Izad on 06/08/05 at 08:25 AM

To the Cast, crew, Larson family, and Mr. Columbus,
I just saw the trailer, which I have been checking for everyday for the past two months. I was excited before but now I am just ectatic. The trailer honestltly made me cry. This is going to be one of the best movies of all time which is only fitting since RENT is the best show of all time in my opinion. Again, thank you so much for making this movie. Its message is going to reach so many people. On November 11th history will be made! It looks so wonderful! Everyone looks and sounds great! Light my Candle, Happy New Year, Today for You..it all looks so proffesional and amazing! Thank you!!!

Keep up the great work and thank you all for your wonderful updates. We love hearing it.

Hey! I just wanted to say congratulations to everyone involved in the movie, I saw the trailer and it looks beautiful. I hope one day to be involved in movie-making, and what really jump-started my interest in studying film is seeing a lot of the musicals which I know and love being made into motion pictures. I am beyond excited to see my FAVORITE broadway show, RENT, being put to screen and cannot even begin to express my wonder and awe of the entire production staff. I am especially excited to be seeing a good chunk of the original cast to be coming together to make what is sure to be a wonderful film.

I do have one question though: In the preview there is a whole lot of snuggling going on with Roger and someone who isn't Mimi (Oh no!). Is this April? I noticed Adam's hair is different in these shots; are there just a great deal of flashbacks to Roger's last girlfriend, April? This may be too secretive to be let out, but as an avid fan of everything RENT, I am DYING to know!!

Thanks for being amazing!! I admire you all deeply!

Much love and God bless.

It feels like I've been waiting for this trailer since I first saw Rent on broadway in '96. I have to admit I had my reservations when thinking about a film.

The trailer brought me to tears. Amazing work, everone. It's wonderful to see the way the actors have matured.

Posted by: Maria on 06/08/05 at 02:18 PM

After watching the trailer, I had the priviledge of meeting the actors and a few TENANTS! I even got to watch them in action on the RENT set.
(Look out for the little guy who lives downstairs from Mimi, he crazy! ) They are putting alot of hard work and passion into this project.

Everyone who loves RENT is going to love RENT even more!!!!!!!!!

I can't wait to see it on the big screen...hugs & kisses precious!

Posted by: miss clavel on 06/08/05 at 03:23 PM

Seeing the trailer took me back to 1997. I was in NY (all the way from Ontario, Canada) and was at the Nederlander to see the show. I went into the bathroom... and I could hear the cast warming up, through the vents or something. I just sat in that stall and wept, I was so happy. Last night I just sat in front of my computer, weeping again like not a day had gone by. I think we all have one of these moments when it comes to Rent. Thank you everyone.

This is absolutly amazing. I can't tell you how many time I've camped outside the RENT theatre on 41st street waiting for tickets, back in the day. My only gripe is.... Where is DAPHNE RUBEN VEGA!!!!!!!!

Posted by: Jason on 06/08/05 at 06:36 PM

I bought the RENT soundtrack then saw the play in Philadelphia. I love the original cast and your voices are awesome. So when I found out from PEOPLE magazine that RENT was being filmed I was very happy but what made me even more excited was that most of the original cast was coming back. I am thrilled and excited. But the November wait will be long. Thank you to the Larson Family for allowing this wonderful play to be made into a movie for all us RENT fans. Thank you to Chris Columbus for taking on this awesome, amazing, wonderful and beautiful play that alot of us have fallen in love with. Also Thank you to Adam, Anthony, and Wilson and the rest of the original cast for coming back. My favorit song is "One song One glory". When Adam sings this song it is truely breath taking. My other favorite is "La Vie Boheme". I also enjoy the songs Adam and Anthony sing together. You guys have a great chemistry when you sing. Well thank you again to all involved. I can't wait.

I haven't seen the show but ever since my brother came home from the civic center one night I've been obsessed!! He never got his cds back. Ever. I am soo excited that when my mom came home, I grabbed her hands and started jumping up and down saying "Rent is being turned into a movie" over and over again. My boyfriend is tired of me talking about it. I think that I will wait in line like a star wars fan. hehehe feel free to make fun. I just can't wait!!! Is it November 11th yet?

Posted by: Brenna on 06/08/05 at 11:09 PM

Amazing... just amazing! The trailer gave me the chills -- I can't wait be there in the theater!

Posted by: Kelly on 06/08/05 at 11:16 PM

As a very lonely boy way back in the late 90's (or was it already 2000?), I was in London by myself, when I got in line to buy a ticket (one of those cheap ones for us poorer chaps) for this show advertised everywhere on the subways/ magazines / buses ... knowing little or nothing about it.

I got on the line at 16:00. The show started about 5 hours later. By midnight, my life had changed. I waited in the halley for the cast to leave the theater (me and some schoolgirls. i was VERY embaresed).. but I got my RENT book signed by all..

Seeing as Moulin, Chicago and all turned out, I never really had any doubts about RENT translating into movies. My only quibbles with it were the casting of the original broadway actor.. I mean, these are characters, and these fine people are 9 years older now. And you know what? The trailer blew me away. They are perfect, Rosario and Tracie look fine and up for it, so I join everyone else when saying November is too, too far away.

Love to you all, thanks for having this Blog... http://www.fotolog.net/tufinhas

I can't wait! Loved the musical--seen it 12 times: twice in Cleveland, 4 times in Washington, and 6 times in NYC. Each time I saw it, it always stirs up some major emotions ;-) It's also a great experience seeing the show for the first time each time--I brought (more like "recruited") friends or family to see it with me for their first time, and they end up loving it as well! Can't wait for November!!

I've seen the trailer for the first time. I was bouncing in my chair, completely thrilled that I at least got a teaser of the movie. November 11th is now an important day for me.

Gosh I can't wait!

Posted by: Amber on 06/10/05 at 02:02 AM

When I saw the trailer I was grinning from ear-to-ear and clapping my hands! I was so excited, and the trailer is so powerful! LOVE Jesse L. Martin, so to hear him showcase his magnificent voice in the trailer made me a happy girl. My friends and I all have November 11th circled on our calendars, and we know we'll make other theatre-goers made b/c we WILL be singing along with the movie! LOL!! GREAT job, guys!

Posted by: Angela on 06/10/05 at 03:58 PM

GLORYious!!

What a beautifully crafted movie trailer! If the movie is as good as this 2 minute 30 second trailer, it will be 2 hours of cinematic bliss! Chris Columbus gets everything right here; the look, the sound and the emotion of RENT all magically coming to life in the "real world" before our very eyes!

"Season of Love" was the perfect song to introduce the movie going audience to the emotional core of RENT. I can now envision future trailers with various edited scenes to such songs as;

"La Vie Boheme" spotlighting the the sexual and social free spirit of the story.

"Rent" introducing and spotlighting the character's struggle to make due.

"Will I" spotlighting the sometime heartbreaking results of that struggle.

Whatever future "trailers" Chris & Co have in store for us I am confident they will be as moving as this first peak into what will no doubt be the best stage to film adaption of a musical since "West Side Story"!! Glory-ious! Michael

Posted by: Michael on 06/10/05 at 03:58 PM

I just saw the trailor for my new favorite movie! I saw RENT in NY in 2000 and it changed my life. I am now married with a 9week old baby boy, and he loves listening to Seasons of love. Since the show I have truly lived and am teaching my son with my husband...."measure in love" and there is "no day but today" . Thank you so much for putting this to film as a mark in film and theatrical history to be held onto and loved for centuries to come! XOXOXO

Posted by: Theatre Froggy on 06/10/05 at 05:40 PM

I have never been more excited for anything more in my life. I went to see rent cause i heard a preview for it on the radio and was just interested in it. It had my heart and soul from beginning to end. I think everyone loves it so much because they feel like it's their life. Everyone can somehow relate to this. This is everyday life that we all go through, someone just documented it and made the best damn play ever written. I'm sure this will now become my favorite movie of all time, and stay that way. THANK YOU everyone in the broadway play and the movie who puts their blood, sweat and tears into this. MUAH

What a wonderful trailer - cannot wait for the movie! Finally getting an opportunity to watch the cast that I've listened to for years!

Thanks again!

Posted by: Amy on 06/10/05 at 06:43 PM

Amazing! The film really seems to have captured the integrity of the show. I saw RENT a dozen times in London, about 5 years ago. (Rush tickets, of course.) The story, the music, the
characters...so powerful. Seeing the show impacted my life in a way where I will never be the same. We are so grateful, Jonathon Larson.

Blessings to everyone involved with this artistic endeavour!

I saw rent at the end of April, this year, in NYC. I knew nothing about it, but I absolutley ADORED it! Now I am obsessed! And this trailer is AWESOME! I really doubt that it will make a pg-13, but who gives? One way or another, I'm seeing it!

I just cried simply watching the trailer...

Rent, on so many levels, has meant so much to me since I discovered this amazing and emotional musical.

The movie is gonna be beautiful, I cannot wait.

Posted by: Kristine on 06/11/05 at 09:52 PM

cried when i saw the trailer... just like when i saw RENT! in 2000... i can't wait until november!

Posted by: dora on 06/12/05 at 04:52 AM

I think I've watched this trailer like...well, you know what, I'm not even gonna say it--I'll spare you the overabundant amount of digits in the number.

But anyways, I think it just couldn't be better, and I practically cried as it was shown to the world on Access Hollywood. Finally, everyone can see the beautiful story and the cast's amazing talent that's been hidden for a decade! I think RENT could only work as a movie if it was done this way--PERFECT.

151 days, 19 hours, 40 mintues!!!

p.s. Just from watchin the trailer, I'm loving the Roger/April and Roger/Mimi kisses!! EEEE!

Posted by: Chrissy on 06/12/05 at 11:21 AM

Hey Everyone,
This is more of a general blog but there is no way to post a general comment so here I go. I know most people who read this are big RENT fans. And you are probably also worried about the movie staying true to the play. I will admit I never saw the play but I was fortunate enough to intern on the set of the movie for 2 weeks. Besides running and getting coffee I was able to watch numerous clips shot from previous sites including San Francisco and New York and I got to watch them film, parts of "Another Day", "You'll See", "Rent", parts of "Out Tonight" and "I should tell you". The film looks awesome and I will be one of the first to tell you that I did no like the story to much when I first heard it. But after I realized the sotries deeper theme and talked to and worked with most of the cast and crew I realized that this film is going to be great. Everyone on set gives their 110% and really loves their job and this is very obvious when you watch past clips. I have seen the songs, "One song Glory", "Seasons of Love", and "Light MY candle". The songs all look great.

Holy crap! The trailer totally rocked!!!! I cannot wait for this movie. Could November 11th be any further away?????

Posted by: Diana on 06/13/05 at 11:30 AM

I don't really know what to say about the movie. I'm looking forward to it! and you can BET that I'll have tickets to go see it the first day it comes out. But then you just look at all the broadway shows that hit it big when it came into movies. and it's perfect timing coming up on the 10 anniversary of the show. I literally can't wait to see the show. and all that I have left to say is... Thank you Jonathan Larson!

Posted by: Brydon on 06/13/05 at 12:23 PM

When will Rent be released in the Netherlands??? Realy looking forward to it!!!

Posted by: Brigit on 06/13/05 at 02:09 PM

I have watched the trailer now at least a hundred times... I CAN NOT WAIT... Is the soundtrack going to be available before the movie is released???? I have seen the show a mere 6 times the first time being with the original Broadway cast...I genuinely think this will be the greatest movie of all time. The show is the greatest of all time, from the trailer I do not see how the movie could not follow that path.

Posted by: Jason Long on 06/13/05 at 05:53 PM

Idina is so gorgous in these pics!although I'm still used to seeing her in green makeup (which she also pulls off beautafully) Everyone Looks Awesome for that matter lol anyway woot! for the cat suit!, The Mark scarf, and Santa Outfit! and also I love how that one Pic is set up with Mark looking on at Maureen and Joanne! just so very awesome! And (last thing I promise) The fact it's coming out on Novemeber 11 my lil' sisters b-day means I no longer have to search for a present for her! YAY!

Posted by: Amanda Rae Hamilton on 06/13/05 at 09:14 PM

i'm pretty sure the cast of the Rent was done nicely. but i, however, think Melanie Brown should have played Mimmi's part. I don't understand why she was sacked from the original cast.

woah, as an old school RENThead from back in the day and former Line dweller on 41st street, i have to say, this trailer is giving me chills. i love that the spirit of the stage production and what it meant to so many people was kept alive. so excited! can't wait until it comes out. i happen to catch the movie filming on Avenue B and 7th street a few months ago while anthony was doing "What You Own", and then later some exterior shots of the "Life Cafe." so great! although it was kind of funny that the real Life Cafe was just across the park, on B and 10th.

I am so excited for this movie I can't even begin to explain. I adored the play and constantly listen to the music. I'm especially excited to see most of the original cast back together for the play because I was about seven when the play first came out so I never saw the show with the original cast. Also, Idina Menzel and Adam Pascal are my two favrite broadway actors EVER, and Taye Diggs and Jesse Martin star in two of my favorite shows. I can't wait until November!

I did have a question though.. if anyone can answer please feel free to email me (JcCopperBoom@Aol.com) what are they planning on rating the movie? I mean are they going to try and push for a PG-13? i'd certainly hope not, but you never know these days. And if so what will they do about the language?

hey!!
i am so excited about rent coming out!!! first off, i am only a 15 year old girl with a LOVE for Rent...i'm really into musical theatre and rent is one of my favourite musicals EVER! i was shivering and tingling and glowing with joy when i heard Rent was to be a movie! I am actually auditioning for the musical when it comes to Melbourne (Oh yeah, i live in Victoria, Australia!) and am über excited!! BAH i have to wait probably 6 MONTHS MORE than you guys in the US to see rent as Australia is always way behind the US in releasing movies. ANYWAY LUFF TO ALL!

Posted by: Ashleigh on 06/21/05 at 04:28 AM

I just wanted to say that I am so happy that Rent is going to become a movie...I have seen the show and know every word to every song by heart and I was worried that the movie would take away the magic, but from the sounds of it you are staying true to the script...I am not to happy with the date you chose to premiere the movie, my bat Mitzvah is on November 12 and for that reason I cannot see it openning day, hopefully there will be a sneak peak that I will be able to see(By the way, I think that it should premiere on December 24 hence Marks first line in tune up #1 "December 24 9 PM Eastern Standard time")anyway I am so happy that you are staying true to the show and that Jonathan Larson's beautifully written script will be preserved forever and I am sure that he is watching over you with a smile.

Of course I was excited when the trailer was released on-line, but on Friday, my sister and I went to see a movie, and we got to see the 'RENT' trailor on the big screen!! Needless to say, we were ecstatic! The people around us probably thought we were strange because we were singing along, and clapping to the beat. It just made me want to see this movie so much more! So the point of all this rambling is: Great job with the trailor!

I cannot wait until November! I keep the RENT site as a favorite and visit it everyday and watch the seconds go by. I think having the majority of the original cast from the broadway show is wonderful. Good luck Tracie! I love you, Idina! You are my favorite (and your arms don't look fat, you're hubby said you were worried about that)! I have probably watched the trailer 30 times--its great! I love the story of RENT, and I must say, my favorite character is Angel! LA VIE BOHEME!! Jesse, you are beautiful...

I can't believe it the play...no the musical I have dreamed of being in is coming to the movies!!!! I have seen the stage play twice with to different cast and I have the original cast recording on CD. BUt I have to admit I'm a little worried as much as the trailer rocks...will the movie be able to stand up to the original? Jonathon Larson spent his life working on it and I wonder is this what he really wanted?! But enough of the critism... I am super ready for it to come out in theatres! I know for a fact that my whole theatre department @ Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana, is driving an hour just because the movie theatre in town isn't going to show it!!!!
How depressing is that!!!! ROCK on RENTHEADS!!!!!

I am soo incredibly excited about this movie. As a girl from South Carolina, I don't get a lot of chances to see musicals but this past January when I went to NYC, I made sure I went and saw RENT....what can I say, I fell in love. It blew my mind to see a musical that touches so many "controversial" issues such as homosexuality and aids. I was touched by the lives of these 8 ordinary people. I am so glad that this is FINALLY being turned into a movie. By doing this musical y'all of have a chance to touch so many lives. I respect and appreciate each one of you so much for what y'all are doing. Thank y'all for doing this and making it possible for people to experience something so pure, so real!

In high school I went to a couple of musicals in Syaracuse NY with my drama class, but nothing compares to "Rent" That has to be the greatest musical I have ever seen, all of the actors did an amasing job, I was in aww. Congrates to all the stars, you all were spectacular. The experience of getting to watch this movie changed my life, now I look at life as a gift, and try to live it the best way that I possibly can, Thanks to Wilson Jermaine Herendia. His role as Angel was amasing, I have never seen anybody with that much spirt in them. Well my hat goes off to all you actors that made it possible for this movie to be put on big screen.

Love always,
Nicole

When my friend first told me about rent, i thought it was gonna be boring. I love music (i'd die without it), but im not much into plays. but that soon changed. It turns out, that i loved the music, and the actors were outstanding. Plus, I think Adam Pascal is cute. lol. I love ths song "Glory." and he is an awsome actor and singer. Rosario Dawson is a great singer and actress, and i wanna be Mimi when i grow up. Anthony Rapp is also an awsome singer may i add...!! =] Wilson Heredia (Angel) was so cute!! I fell inlove with his character. Taye Diggs and Jesse L. Martin were awsome singers. i think they should have their own cd! actually all of them should. Idina Menzel im not surprised...she always does great work (Wikked), and lets no forget Tracie Thoms--for being a great actress and hitting that high note at the end of "Seasons of Love." Through the sadness with the AIDS and when angle dies--i thought the movie was so touching. But despite that, it looks like they had a lot of fun as well. Through New Years, and Christmas...everytime i hear one of their songs--i thank Johnathon Larson for being such an outstanding play writer. Without him...i wouldnt have anything to be obbessed over..lol. Thank you Johnathon Larson...

I first saw Rent back in 1998 in London with my ex boyfriend, this was after watching the cast perform seasions of love on GMTV - he hated it and walked out before the end of the 1st act. This, for me hurt, i was so engrosed and was loving it - but had to leave....

Not long after I finnished with him, and decided to see it once more, i wanted to experience it on my own. I was in the position where i was sitting next to a woman called Lidia who happened to work on the stage door. We chatted about the show, and i learned more about the cast. Watching the show, i thought WOW - tears and laugther, amasiing. Come the end of the show, and a stand of ovation, it ended. Lidia asked it i would like to meet the cast, to wich i said yes! This is when i met wilson, if he reads this, youtold me that the white patch in my hair was lucky - and you were right!

I have also seen it the states, and it still makees me cry, and now it has a greater meaning to me, as i now have HIV, and "No Day But Today" is how i live my life - thank you!

I have been an obsessed RENT fan since I found out about its existence back in 2000 (I'm an Aussie - things don't get here very quickly) Since then I have had a complete copy of the broadway production on CD - words and lyrics, the whole lot - and know it off by heart. I was worried about the movie - until I saw it!! It's brilliant!! It only just left the movies, but I bought a copy on DVD from the States and watch it at least three times a week!! I didn't like the change in lyrics - e.g. Collins 'Gentleman, our benefactors on this Christmas Day' instead of Christmas Eve, and Mark and Rogers duet at the start where they don't have Joanne in the background cutting in with her 'I'll never be a theatre person' lines etc. And they cut out Christmas Bells - I like the original too much!! And I didn't like how Mark speaks the 'December 24th 9pm, eastern standard time' instead of singing it, and they added in 1989 and 1990 to those lines - what is with that?? But its growing on me (rapidly) and overall, I love it!! I am so excited about this movie!! It's great!! Rosario and Tracie fit in brilliantly and are great!! Adam - you are the most gorgeous man alive!! When are you all going to bring the stage show to Australia? Jonathon Larsen is brilliant, and will never be forgotten!! Thankyou for creating this masterpiece!! Better wrap this up!! RENT IS THE BEST MUSICAL EVER WRITTEN, NO EXCEPTIONS (and this from one who almost never listens to anything but musicals!) CHAMPION EFFORT! (And on the side, brilliant singing by the Mighty Ducks 'Bash Brother.' You were awesome!!)
